South Brisbane; QR D17 268 traverses on the headshunt to forward back to the South Brisbane depot to recoal Michael Gitsham

Hi Michael,
I assume that is Platform #1 South Brisbane?

Sorry but that is not South Brisbane platform #1 track diagram. There was not an extra track between platform #1 and #2. The cross over extended from the northern end of #1 south to #2 with room for a loco at the north of #1.

The major historical article on Brisbane for that era is the following ARHS Bulletins.
THE SUBURBAN RAILWAYS OF BRISBANE by Knowles, JW

This extensive article covers the entire Brisbane suburban system at the height of steam in the 1950s. Detailed track diagrams are provided for the suburban passenger lines from Brisbane to Ipswich, Shorncliffe, Petrie, Ferny Grove, Pinkenba, Exhibition Loop, and South Brisbane to Kingston and Lota, drawn by CC Singleton. The track and stations on all the above lines and to Beenleigh, Cleveland and Caboolture are described individually with details of operations. The goods lines (Bulimba branch, and Wooloongabba (with diagrams) and Redbank-Bundamba loop, Dinmore to New Chum Colliery, Tivoli branch, Abattoirs and SEA Powerhouse) are covered, also the 1435 mm gauge line south from South Brisbane briefly. Nothside and southside passenger and goods services are treated, with details of running times and speeds, carriage working, exhibition and other special services, plus locos, railmotors, comparison with Sydney electrics, competition and plans for quadruplication, and electrification.

35 photos, 3 maps, 107 diagrams. Article is continued in Bn 317 Mar 1964 pp 47-57, Bn 318 Apr 1964 pp 69-76, Bn 319 May 1964 pp 91-9, Bn 320 Jun 19614 pp 112-20, Bn 321 Jul 1964 pp 121-9, Bn 322 Aug 1964 pp 150-5, and Bn 323 Sep 1964 pp 166-75. Corrections appear in Bn 327 Jan 1965 pp 18-9.

South Brisbane is June 1964 P.113.

There is an online searchable site for the Bulletin http://www.nswrail.net/search/bulletin.php

Just search by state or what ever you wish to see the Bulletin contents.

Memo from the office

Hi Peter C,

Just some old Pictures from my archives; I was experimenting at the time but it does look nice, I have now the corrected in Version II what you have stated using my hoarded collection of QR Station diagrams and many QR books. I have started to build some of the Early Batches of QR Evans Carriages and a rebuild of my D17.

I hope you enjoyed them.

Kindest Regards

Can someome from Victrainz please contact me - Permission has been given for the beta EL CFLCA to be released but need a host

My email works  If you need it available from ViCTrainz, but I would only do that as a beta for testing.
With Multi Player only enabled to use content from the DLS, it will be a dead duck in the water after Trainz 12 is released in a few months :(
Cheers

Good to read that you have the track plans! Maybe those ARHS Bulletin articles are in the AMRA Zillmere library as well?

The thing to check is the altitude for each station as they generally are listed in books such as "Destination South Brisbane" etc.

Some spot heights, according to the above books, to check to ensure all is well so far; South Brisbane should be 30 feet high, Roma Street should be 61 feet or 19 meters in height, Gabba should be 37 feet high, Yeerongpilly should be 39 feet high in altitude, Altandi 191 feet and Kuraby 176 feet in altitude.

Enjoy your designs :D

Cheers

Chaps,

I normally really, REALLY loathe cross posting, but I also really, REALLY desire to "give back" to the community that has given me so much. Thus, I will ask those of you that are good with surveyor and sessions and whatnot, please take a moment to look at this thread:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/showthread.php?p=769573#post769573

I'm asking after HTML pages within a session, similar to what is in the built-in routes. I would have asked here, but didn't want to clog up the thread with discussion. Please don't reply here, but in that thread, thanks!

I've nearly finished testing my first session (it all works properly), I just need to add the instructions and set up the "ending" correctly - ie the player gets relieved at the station, gets off the train and watches the train drive off without them, before the session ends.

For those that are interested, the first "session" will be driving a short ARG/Manildra container freight from one end of the map to the other. Should take about 40 minutes.

Now that's an interesting development. :(

David, I think you'll find crews complaining that the speed board is obstructed by the OHW structure. Of course, you can reply with "road knowledge", but the unions might get upset. Nice looking tunnel, that!

As for the DLS, I'll be uploading my route to Victrainz (if they'll have it), as I don't trust the DLS anymore...

patchy, as usual you are inspirational. Thankyou as always for sharing your screenshots and giving us inspiration to work on our own layouts.

Hey guys

I havnt been on this in about a year, and was wondering, is there any new SAR, TransAdelaide, NSW, QR, Vic content? I am hoping to get the latest edition of Trainz, whatever that may be and do a route, and actually stick to it this time, not get half way and then not finish it.
