nsw canterary

hey everyone, was just wondering if someone could tell me where to download NSW electric wires. arghh i don't know how to spell canterary properly:confused:
many thanks
Josh

Hi Joshnluke.

The only NSW catenary that I know of has been made by Davido. (kuid:60723)
To my limited knowledge, the catenary was on the Download Station (DLS) for some time a few years ago, but was removed by the author as it was being spread around against his will. (If my facts are not correct, please do not hesitate to give your version of the story.):o

So, you will not be able to find this catenary on the DLS any more. However, Davido may be considering whether to release it again or not. In the meantime, may I suggest using a similar looking catenary that I think is built into Trainz.

EDIT: The catenary that can be used as a substitute for Davido's NSW catenary is built-in to most versions. But if for some reason it isn't, find it on the DLS, kuid:44482:20000. Named "Catenary Double RO"

Happy Trainzing,;)
Scott.

G'day all!

Forest_Runner, some abosultely stunning and beautiful shots! :D I shall have to download you're routes!

Here are some more shots from the recently abandoned Geraldton Station.

Beyond that warehouse are the Geraldton Yards, behind us, is the Geraldton Tin Mine.

Here, there were to sidings, they are barely recognisable as a railway track now.

You can just barely make out one of the sidings and a buffer. Behind that abondoned warehouse is a smelter, where they extracted the tin from the ore they mined.

And now, looking back towards Geraldton, this is where the two sidings joined.

Cheers! :)

That is true Noel,
Scott, a better substitute is by engfer found on the DLS, called Mod or Old
They are modular,
They come in
Mod (Modern) 1t Pole
Mod 2t Bridge
Mod 2t Poles
Mod 3t Bridge
Mod 4t Bridge
Mod 5t Bridge
Mod catenary Bridge
Catenary Wire
Mod Wirehold 1
Mod Wirehold 2
Mod 1t Pole

The last 5 are for making a catenary bridge, you know, 8 or 9 tracks
Place the Catenary Bridge every 40 metres or so
Place Catenary Wire and Make a spline point every time you get to a bridge (Obviously along the track)
Place either Mod Wirehold 1 or 2 where the wire goes under the catenary bridge
I'll make a route as an example, just a couple of boards, and upload to yousendit or something

Jake,

Superb work. Look out Muliebuck, i think you've been out-surveyed. And no, that wasn't a challenge!:hehe:

Matt.

Hey everyone,

There's been a big demand for VR shots recently, so I thought I'd pull out my VR toys...

I replaced the track on 'Sandy River to Bongo Creek2007RBC' with Zec's (is it Zec's?) awesome VR track.:D

Great Work as usual!:Y:

Thanks,
Mitch

EDIT: Damn, I just noticed the X class there has no number... Better remember put a running number down next time...
EDIT 2: 300th Post!

Just to show what is coming soon....

Just to show some of my work I have in progress to lovers of fine Oz Diesel Electrics and Rail Diesel Cars, the CLP/CLF Class soon (TM) to be getting finalized. Possibly in three to four or so months of work still on these to do on the CLP/CLF Class with all the different liveries they were in the past and are having now. No windscreen wipers yet, no louvre window box on front below the logo, no class numbers yet, no sides and top sides done either. Side window modifications not done yet plus all the below the body gear like tank, pipes etc. not implemented as yet. Interior still to be fitted as well as new bogies and the rear still to be done. Disregard the current bogies, they are just placed there to get the CLP/CLF up and running in TS09/TS10, also the shadows are from a different locomotive as are some other items on these diesel electrics.

I could have used the AN GM cab from the CC Art CDs for the CLP/CLF Class but as they are so crude in todays terms (no disrespect to its creator(s) as they were made many years ago for slow running PCs) I created the whole cab from the ground up. Boy, was this a learning curve to get the cab reasonably correct just to give credit to the CLP/CLF Class for today's and tomorrow's PCs.

The SAR BlueBirds you can see in the background are already running in TS09/10 in native mode, have opening doors, are passengers enabled, have scripting to driver/lights changes etc. when reversing. No bump/normal mapping on the BlueBirds yet, these are still do be done plus new, reworked bogies as well as reworking the fronts/back of these. They are already running in native mode in TS09/10 and I will package these when finished, so they will run from TRS04 onwards in all other versions of TRS/TS too.

Timeline to finish the SAR BlueBirds? After the CLP/CLF Classes are done, some six months or so in the future perhaps as I got motivated again after having to learn fresh of creating with normal mapping and all the "newfangled" way of creating now necessary for TS09/TS10. As the information of doing so is sadly lacking and I had to experiment and find out for myself of the way to create now. I can tell you how frustrating this was and I nearly gave up creating for Trainz altogether some time ago.

VinnyBarb, thanks for the update mate. The CL* class is looking outstanding mate, and if your AN class are anything to go by, they won't dissapoint!

Very nice VinnyBarb... very nice indeed. Despite my own NSW bias, it's always great to see some attention to SA based content.

I for one will be obtaining the content if/when it is available.

I totally agree, it will be worth the wait to see these great Locos.

Many thanks Vinny.

:):):)

P.S. Great work Rastis, congratulations on producing some excellent scenery that "tells" a story.

There is a few railroads in the USA that have the same livery and symbol (but with different letters) that the diesel on the right has. Why is this?

Thankyou, Chris

I remember I asked this in the previous incarnation of the Forums... after seeing the same livery in a Trains mag. Unfortunately, I can't recall the detailed answer

The "GW" depicted on VinnyBarbs loco stands for Genesee and Wyoming, which I'm assuming is the parent Company. Of course most got the "AR" treatment. But a close-up view of the logo, even here in Oz, has that awful, hideous word "Railroad" printed in the bottom part of it.

Absolutely right Forest_Runner! Genesee & Wyoming is the parent company. When G&W bought the remnants of the old Australian National frieght side they set up in Australia as the Australain Southern Railroad (ASR or A&S). When they moved into Western Australia they set up the Australian Western Railroad (AWR or A&W). Moving into the Northern Territory they set up the Australian Northern Railway (ANR or A&N) which only lasted long enough to build the Darwin line.

Having set their sights on New South Wales they gained the Manildra contract and moved all of the locomotives from the former Australian Northern Railroad to NSW. Australian New South Wales Railraod (ANSWR) was just going to sound stupid so the decision was made to rename all of the groups to the Australian Railroad Group (ARG). When QRN bought out most of ARG the remaning Assets in South Australia were renamed for Genesee & Wyoming. You can tell the former A&N locomotives because they're named on the black band uner the cab sides. From memory it was about 4x22 class and about 3 or 4x31 class. They are also the original NSW loco's with a few CLP/F thrown in for variety.

In the US G&W started life as a short line railroad (I can't remember the original name of the company. The G&W then moved to take over other shortline companies but left them with their own names albeit painted in the parent company colours. A visit to www.railpictures.net will show many examples of the different companies.
