many happy returns Mitch, wish I was 14 again.......(ponder, ponder) no I dont, I was a skinny awkward git then. I'm much happier being a slightly overweight old git now:hehe::hehe::hehe:

Have a great one Mitch

Matt - Sorry, the bit I left off my original post was that - signal electricians are not like us. While the measurement for the TRACK distance is from the buffer stop at Central, the measurement for the OHW structures and the signals is measured from somewhere else at Central, just to confuse us! That's why you can't rely on a signal or OHW structure for your exact distance from Central...

Raichase,

Thanks, that clears it up for me. As i said, i did some checking, and it looks like the numbers are the mileages (miles, for Christ's sake!) from Central, but off their corresponding track measurement (which is in kilometres, by the way, WTF?) by a fair few metres.

If the signals are measured from elsewhere at Sydney, that would go some way to explaining the discrepancies.

Thanks,

Matt.

Evening.

Ok so the route isnt Australian but Vinnybarbs new engines are awesome. Plus this pickup tried to beat the train.

Awesome looking route there Hert and some awesome locos from Vinnybarb.:udrool: :mop:

Mind you, I don't think the driver of the ute is going to be much of a fan of your new locos, Vinnybarb.

You got that right! Using an online measurement converter, it appears that they may be miles, after all. They're off by 1-2 hundred metres, but that's close enough for me.:hehe:

Unless someone comes up with a better explanation, i'll go with that for naming my signals.

Edit: Also my maths is off.:hehe: What i said before is incorrect, as if they are miles, then the number would be lower not higher, as i incorrectly stated. The signal numbers are lower than their corresponding KM location, so, they probably are miles, then.

Cheers,

Matt.

Also another thing I recall that may help is that even numbers are for signals facing away from Sydney for up direction trains and odd numbers for signals facing towards Sydney for down direction trains (all except for one, and that is the Signal at the end of Platform 1 at Redfern underneath the bridge. Beats me why?)

Unless Sydney is different from Melbourne here as well. Would not up signals be TO Sydney?
And Down signals EX Sydney?
Cheers
