Australian screenshots

G'day!

Here are a few quickies from the NSWGR Wherearewe line.

One FreightCorp 48 and two 81's haul 31 loaded coal hoppers past Binalongere loop one their way to Curandilla to unload.

Rounding a corner out of Wherearewe, the train powers through giving the birds an awful scare!

Alongside the Milthorpe highway, the train thunders.

The sun rises over and after spending the night in Braidwood, the train rounds two bends and makes for the home stretch.

Thats all I have for now!

Wow Jake thats one amazing cross country line to get from Millthrope to Braidwood. You have just put the proposed Brisbane Melbourne Link back 100 years there mate and done half the work for them,:hehe: :D
AMAZING

Hey guys,

Good to see Pete's silo's finding homes on a few routes. Now we just need a few shots of the Flour Mill. Some more nice shots from Tanvaras and Forest_Runner, as well.

Rastis, nice pics, however i do have one tiny criticism. I'm not trying to be a know-all here, as i'm sure there are exceptions, but every time i have seen the 81+48 combo, the 81's have been leading. I'm just saying, and as i said, i'm sure someone can think of a few exceptions to the rule.
Nice shots all the same.

Matt.

G'day Matt!

Never seen a 48 + 81 combo. I'm from Tasmania where there's very little rail traffic! :hehe:

Thanks for the input though!

And Bearcat, Have I really? Never knew 'bout that line! :hehe:

Cheers! :)

Well, there you go! That explains a bit, then. You've learned something new, then, and as i said, someone will probably come up with exceptions to the rule, with photos to back it up, knowing this lot.:D Love the pics anyway. Keep it up.

mattm and rastis - I was just about to congratulate rastis on his awesome looking plains (the last few screenshots are the best, especially the sunset shot), and to congratulate rastis on hiring a gunzel crew! mattm, a crew will usually prefer to drive the nicer locomotive, which is why you normally see the 81 leading. However, if the 81 class has a broken dunny, or perhaps the crew wouldn't mind getting out and taking a photo or two, it's not uncommon to see a trailing unit leading... Happens occasionally with the R&B crew at Clyde putting 8050 on the Kandos cement as an "extra" loco (normally rostered for a single 81 class), and then the 80 finds itself in the lead. Not something I've had a chance to photograph, but I'm looking forward to having a crack one of these days! Love those 80 class - I'd love to see a Freightcorp and/or a PN model in Trainz. You can bet they'll be leading my 81 class wherever they may wander!

G'day Rai!

I laughed my pants off for some reason! I just find the word 'dunny' funny! Thanks! That made my day! :hehe:

Cheers! :)

Jake,

I told you so!:hehe::hehe: Raichase, thanks for proving a point. I take it by 'nicer', you mean the loco with all the mod-cons? Because i prefer the 48's myself. Don't know why, i just do.

Also, at what point would the crew be in any position to take photos when working a train? Sounds kind of, well, not negligent, just odd, is all. I mean, aren't they supposed to be concentrating on other things?

Of course we do, we're train buffs! I'm sure a lot of the crews have a soft spot for the 48 class. However, if you've got to sit in the thing for 8+ hours, and it's only 3 degrees outside, you'd probably pick the loco with a working heater, comfy seat and reasonably draft free, spacious interior ;). I know I would!

Time and a place really - obviously you couldn't pull up at Woy Woy and jump out for a photo, but when your train is waiting at a red signal in the middle of nowhere, or when you've broken down, or you're waiting for wagons to load before moving, etc. A number of friends of mine take some excellent photos "on the job", at times when they would otherwise be sitting around playing with themselves or throwing ballast a fence post or something equally pointless!

Fair enough, i suppose. don't know why that didn't occur to me. It would get fairly boring sitting round doing nothing i guess. I don't know why you chose that first example though! That is more info than i, or anyone else, needed. I will never be able to look at a stationary goods train with a straight face again!:hehe::hehe:

Forest_Runner, nice shots once again. Love your standard of detailing. Yet more inspiration for me.

VR F class #174 sits at a terminus with it's 2 car passenger train, made up of a pair of AB cars.

VR V class #517 is seen sitting in Lilydale platform with a very short Warburton pass, made up of 15AA, 2AB, 12BB, 3B, and 267Z.

Later the same day, F174 is seen sitting in Yarra Glen with an up 'race day' train, made up of 51AB and 1AB.
