Australian screenshots

Well, that's different i suppose. And what is an excavator doing that close to the tracks? Is this one ARTC parked a bit too close, or was someone racing trains again? Seriously, when will people learn; at the places marked "railway crossing", the big mass of metal on the shiny rails moving at 60, 80, 90kmh has right-of-way?

And Jackford2009, the pics look good. Keep them coming.

Matt.

Dear Matt

Have u got any link to this problem with xpt thanks.

Hey Jackford
For some tips, I'd suggest getting some more realistic trees, such as by Falcon500

Hey everyone,
Thought I'd share today's workings in Trainz. I got my World of Trainz Pilbara C44-9Ws today...
mitch456yui201006040000.jpg

I've got the Pilbara Iron ROBE logo, Pilbara Iron HI logo, Hammersley Iron and FMG C44-9W locos, running in TS2009 (the 'Gatekeeper' installation system warned me that the locos weren't built for 09, but no problems yet!). Awesome to run!:D :udrool:
Thanks,
Mitch

Jackford, while snow is white the whole area need not be white. Add some "colour" into it like a rocky texture here and there, I know there are rocks in the snowy, people hit them all the time and break there legs :hehe:. There are also rocks on the DLS that you could place around the area as well. Also around the trees maybe add some brownish/grassy type texture, it just breaks up the total white colour and makes it look more real. The same with a field sometimes, just add a bit of brownish texture here and there especially where trees are.

Sometimes it is handy to download a layout that is similar to what your doing to get ideas on how to landscape it, that's what I have done in the past.

I agree about the trees though sometimes it is hard to find the right ones. I am not sure which ones are best for your snowy areas but someone may be able to help with them. For green pasture scrub areas, the trees by Falcon500 (kuid 441444) are very good and there are some excellent gum trees by boobless_ed (kuid 159181) as well.

Keep the good work up and keep posting screenshots.

Craig

Davido, nice shot. I like it a lot. Jackford2009: I suggest you follow the advice given by JJDella in regards to trees. I recently DL'd a few trees by Falcon500. They look quite a bit better than some of the default ones.

Anyway enough 'advice' from me.;) I would like some of my own advice, if that's all right.

The following pic is of the track layout at own of my towns- I was wondering how likely a track layout like this would be in real life, and if anyone has any suggestions for improvements.

Thanks,

Matt.

but this forum has the biggest oz audience. I need some good photos for details of an SAR 700 or 720 class loco. I have a diagram of one with the 6 wheel bogies under the tender, but photos are few and far between. Can anyone help?

cheers
pete

This is a great shot mate. Awesome looks and the background layout of realistic.

ATTENTION PETE (AD602000)

I'm in possession of an old ARHS publication dating back to 1968 titled "700."

It's a beautiful publication, with pictures, diagrams, the works... and pretty much details the full fleet variations from 700 through to 749 (actually 759 if you include the VR N Class imports).

You're more than welcome to borrow it to aid in your latest idea... if interested, just PM me.

Cheers,

What's the likelyhood?

Matt,

I track layout like that is not unlikely. I've seen several just like that. If it were a passenger station however and the branch line was also carrying passenger trains then you would more than likely have an island type station similar to ad602000s' A8 station building so that passenger trains could access it from both lines without a shunt. If you only wanted a single line station then you should move the junction past the end of the yard to make it operationally efficient.

As I say though, nearly anything was done if they needed to put a siding in a particular place.

Jackford, keep up the good work. As others have said try adding a little colour to your scenery and rotate the textures as you lay them. I've seen some textures that are both snow and grass or rocks. Try some of them. Remember, you can always paint over them.

Railwayz

jackford, do a google for images of some towns in the snowy like cooma, jindabyne bredbo, have a look at the landscape around them to get an idea of what it's like. Snow is RARELY that heavy where the rail lines were, make it patchy

Hi everyone,
I've been running my NSWGR steam locos. Most (or should I say all) are built for TRS06 and under. I've got them running in TS09, using enginespecs from other locos. Below is a list of what locos I have changed, which I think I need another enginespec that the one I've picked, and why I'm using the spec:

NSWGR D53 - VR N Enginespec 09 - Couldn't find anything closer
NSWGR D55 - VR N Enginespec 09 - Couldn't find anything closer

Now, the NSWGR D57 and NSWGR D58, these locos are every outdated, and, surprisingly, have no tenders for them, which is very annoying, where can I find tenders to match?. I can't find an enginespec with the matching 64, 327 lbs of tractive effort which the D57 produces, nor the 200psi boiler pressure. Anyone have any ideas? Below is a picture of the NSWGR D57...
mitch456yui201006040001.jpg

The NSWGR 60 Class Garratt. I can't find an enginespec to match it either, it has 63,490lbs of tractive effort and 200psi boiler pressure. Any ideas? Below is a picture, since this is supposed to be a screenshot thread...
... Can't get it to work, you know what a Garratt looks like ...

Any help great apperciated, thanks,
Mitch

If you using the 60 class that is under the name of Comtrain there is no need to change the enginespec at all it's all ready been approved by many an ex driver as being very close to spot on.

Remember Peter's (AD602000) locomotives are designed for 2004 so when you are using them in 2009 they will not operate as they were designed to by Peter.

As to the tenders they are on the DLS remember they are a trs2004 build and both 58 and 59 use the same tender, but as per NSW practice any tender will do most of the time anyway.

The loco is TS2010 built-in.

I've tried to rip it back to TS2009 for the hell of it... and I couldn't get it to show in game.

The 4 wheel rolling stock is by ad602000 and on the DLS. They are OBf wagons.
