Australian screenshots

I made the Ticket Machine Shelter and Platform Awning in max so i can send them your way if you think they would be useful mate as long as i can get a bit of feedback on how they are ?, I'm in Melbourne for the rest of the week so next weekend i can send em your way.
Cheers Mick.:)

That awning and shelter are exactly what I've been looking for myself Mick. I wonder if I could score a copy as well. My CM is playing up at the moment so I haven't been able to import those pylons you gave me as yet.

Matruck - very realistic station. Excellant.
I think you will find a few people interested in the canopy and shed - and I would like to request them too.
Probably the most realistic for small NSW stations we've had.

Looking very nice VinnyBarb. Would they also be skinned in AN colours?

Railwayz

2 different National Rails (one the big lettered one, the other the last NR version), the green/gold AN coloured version as well and dirty and clean versions of these too. The DL Class PN in the screenshots is a dirty version plus TS09/10 and TS12 specific versions too, the TS12 versions will be first when DLS upload time comes around. I only finished the 1st LOD of the PN version this morning, the others will still be some weeks away as I take it a bit easy now. Creator's burnout, you know :p.

Cheers

Some nice work there everyone!

Mick - Warabrook station looks great! Having been there many times myself I can safely say you hit the nail on the head! The platform canopies/shelters would also make a great addition to some stations on my route!

Herbert - great work on the DL class, very muchly looking forward to these beauties!

Keep up the great work all! :D

According to the terms you don't need permission, you are just not aloud to make money from it to which is fair enough, but read through the terms there is a grey area so it would be best to leave it of till i find out, i will email them and make sure of it that way ill have the return email to fall back on.

I hope you got permission from him or her to import that into Trainz :o
Just a thought about 3DWarehouse stuff making its way onto the DLS via RubyTMIX. There is the potential for many copies of the same item ending up on the DLS via different "authors", thus causing some confusion when included in published routes and so on.

Now I'm not suggesting that any form of restriction should be applied, I'm not even sure if this would be a real issue, I was just wondering if anybody else had considered this and had any ideas as to how it might be avoided or minimised.

My only thought was that, before putting a 3DW item on the DLS a budding publisher should check to see if the items already been uploaded. This would only really be viable if the item could be readily identified on the DLS in some way. I think there used to be some form of "custom" tag that could be added to a config.txt file, if that's still available it might be useful.
It was actually not my intention that people would simply flood the DLS with straight conversions from the 3D warehouse. What I had hoped would happen is that people would download the models from there, then apply the necessary extra steps to make them efficient in Trainz, then put them on the DLS. Also we should, of course, remember to acknowledge the author and the warehouse itself as the original source of the model... although not 'required' by Google it is certainly proper etiquette; and I do get the sense that Google wants to see that anyway, whether they say so or not.

From the Google 3D Warehouse Terms of Service Agreement:

From Section 8 Content in the Services section:

"For the avoidance of doubt, you may modify, distribute, and create derivative works of Content uploaded by other users in 3D Warehouse."

From Section 11. Content license from you:

(c) By publicly posting or displaying the content you give other end users of the Services a perpetual, sublicensable, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free, and non-exclusive license to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute (subject to the restrictions set forth in Sections 11.4 and 20.3 of these Terms) any Content or derivative works thereof which you publicly post or display on or through the Services.

Well, if its been stated that permission is not needed from the original authors I'm good... though I do prefer to build my own objects :)

Cheers
