hi petan
Ron, are you sending that milk to Boonah or Jacaranda Milk in at Booval? Loco seems to be heading to Ipswich or am I geographically embarrassed again? That Fassifern book from which I sent material a few months ago suggests both factories received cream from the Fassifern district, so loco facing either direction would be OK.

the milk trucks cant run. they're on strike for better pay.
the train is heading to ipswich, then on to booval creamery.
it brought the crushed ice from boonah,
or was that dugandan??
i'll have to check soem of the photos when i can find them again.
durn hand is still playing up though, so i cant get as much done as i want
still fixing Hoya station area.
i finally got the other invisible station with the bent track deleted.
i had to unlock utc and tiles to get that.
very weird.

cheers

Hi Ron,

Sorry, cream carriers not able to strike as they were on a five year contract (but I did enjoy your humorous twist!). The ice would be from somewhere such as a butter factory as they needed an ice tower facility, I think.

The bloke at the Murgon Dairy Museum explained that ice arrangement to us a few years ago. The ice blocks were thick and large, according to his description. He said most chilled wagons added blocks to the ice chest through the roof hatches plus threw crushed ice over the milk churns themselves as well, especially in hot weather. That museum had an old ice chilled wagon which the bloke allowed us to inspect inside to understand the process.

I have to "hand it to you" about that great progress or did they use that "handy joke" in the hospital as well?! (sorry about the puns)

So you were a shunter or station staff or similar at Molong back when double 60 class were doing that W44 concentrate train! That explains how come your Caboolture Rockhamption Trainz route has the right feel as that authenticity does not come out of books! That rail procedure is so famous it has its own weki entry. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W44_Concentrate_Train

Cheers
Peter

Tale Of Two States

Hello Everyone,

Just an announcement for the NSWGR lovers, and inspired by Daves twisting my arm for a Level Crossing to replace the aged British stand in. After alot of inquiring and dumpster diving through avaliable archives. I have come up with a few Wooden Level Crossings that were around from the Early Days right up to the State Rail Authority in the mid 1980's. I am currently working on a few models so expect to see them post during the next few days.

The gates modelled below are based on the preserved examples at the NSW Rail Transport Musuem - Thirlemere. This is the Double Track variation. I will be working on a single track verison and a township version which is based of the gates at June & Cootamundra.

Enjoy :D

I have used David Burkes - Chasing The Sunshine 2009; Qld Musuem Publication as it provides an excellent source of information on the design, construction and operation of the Sunshine Express aswell as other affliated Mail Trains. Highly recomended for a good read in.

Hi Bhorton
That would be my streamlined S class model, which at this stage is unreleased. I'm not sure if I'll be releasing it at the moment, a I'm not really happy with the model anymore. Instead, I'm thinking of starting it again completely from scratch at some point in the future. I may release the current version via the VicTrainz site, however I'm not sure at this stage (really depends on if I can fix up some of the bugs in it).

track problem at Hoya

hi all

i managed to find a way to delete the invisible station, but now i have another problem with disappearing track.

Earlier I mentioned Ron’s Caboolture [51 km from Roma Street] to Rockhampton route and you probably guess years ago it grabbed my attention for not only the length but the details that make it real, having travelled that area a few times. That route looked authentic and not just done using some shallow superficial pseudo so called history book, including “fluffy” tourist style brochures.

It is this annoying matter of shallow history books which I have found a bit of a trap on my own 1950 / 1960s QR Tweed Southport Trainz route, as the Gold Coast has loads of these "fluffy" books available and probably OK for the tourists here for a week or so but they lack substance!

But the job of sorting out the pretenders from the real books has slowed up the development of my Trainz route. It has sent me off on a few very time consuming "wild goose chases"... I assume people working on other routes “have run into similar brick walls”! Somewhat frustrating!

him peter

the follow on route to Dugandan Boonah will be to Mount Edwards, but like you, i have the same problems with glossed over publications that are just there to tease the tourists.
i find them very annoying.
with the Caboolture to Rockhampton rote i was in luck and allowed to use other creators partial routes and i modified them to suit what i needed.
at that time i was hopeless when creating a map from scratch
with Boonah, i have spent more hours there at the actual places then i have worked on the route.
Mt Edwards will be the same.
then i will be making the "Via Recta" route the way it should have been done.
i have a baseline and will tale camera, laptop and tablet pc to get it spot on.
i know the elevations in most places, apart from the gap.
that will be difficult, but with the tablet telling me spot on gps data, including heights, i think that will actually be the best of the 3 routes
thanks for all the help sofar
cheers
Ron

@ Petan, I have the same issue with my QR South Coast for the last few years and the same case is with the Urangan Branchline that went through to Hervey Bay, there is so little information in detail to offer. It takes a keen eye to work everything out.

@Ron, I have sent you some locomotives for the route.

Regards & Good Evening
