No, I'm definitely right. The harbour bridge only has one footway on the eastern side opposite the trackside which is on the west, because from your photo jaxonjared you will see that the footway goes through the pylon whereas steve has one that stops at the pylon. the deck of the bridge does not extend further than the archways through the pylons and on the eastern side a footpath goes through it and on the western side a rail line goes through it. there is definitely no footpath on the rail side. Even the path for maintenance for rail is between the track and is metal plate.

after further investigation;"Today it carries eight traffic lanes and two railroad lines. There is a pedestrian pathway on the eastern side of the bridge and a cycleway on the western side of the bridge" My apologies, I stand corrected. The deck is still to wide though, as the cycleway is narrower than the walkway and goes through the pylon next to the single traintrack that goes through it. Funnily enough the approach is narrower and the track and cycleway curve outwards

Sorry Peter,
Steve 123 is correct. There is a Pedestrian Footpath on the Eastern side and a Bike Track on the Western Side.

When Peter mentioned about there being no access track on the western side i searched the internet found a video of a passenger filming there train ride across the bridge from north to south and in that it had shown bicycles being ridden on the western side of the bridge,,,,but i will say you had me worried for a few minutes Peter.

I will be fixing that part of the bridge and making the bike track go through the pylon, i also have to build the proper attachment for the vertical beams underneath the lower main beam of the arch that connect to the road, also extend the security support platforms and place more of them towards each pylon.
As you know it all take time.

Yes I know, after looking into it further that's what I ended up saying.

Damn nice job though Steve

MOST OF THESE ARE OVER 2 WEEKS OLD = a lot of has changed since then

And I do not think any of the locos or rolling stock would go to RTM since there no longer around either I think you mean Trainworks.

The items are more likely to go back home to QLD and SA. But there no reason they could no just stay where they are - or get loan out I surpose

Good chance for someone to reguage it back to 4 foot 8 and run real trainz on it --- Lachlan Valley Railway are looking for a new home --- Tounge in cheek statment

The Zig Zag railway is now going to be torn up

Somehow I dont see any historical society, rail or otherwise allowing that. Is it listed as a historical site? If it isnt it soon will be I reckon

The Zig Zag railway is now going to be torn up :'(

If you have ANY information to actually back this claim (apart from weeks-old news stories), then tell us.

If you DON'T have any information, then keep your trap shut.

IF the line was to close completely (and that's a big bloody if), it's most likely that the ex-QR locos and stock will head back to QLD (where they technically belong, but that's another story altogether, one which I won't delve into here), not to ex-RTMnowTrainworks. Likewise with their South Australian items.

My personal wish is that they sort themselves out and maybe sell items that are surplus to their requirements, using the finances they gain from these sales to get back on their feet. While they're at it, work on getting their paperwork up to speed and then applying for re-accreditation through ITSR. After they regain accreditation, they should/could limit their services to every second weekend with a special timetable available for the NSW school holidays. All the while they should try and recruit new volunteers, young people willing to learn, as well as older folks who have certain qualifications that are crucial to the operation and maintenance of a heritage railway, as well as trying to bring back other members who may have become burnt out over the years and left the operations and maintenance of the railway to others. You don't need paid staff to run a tourist railway (the costs involved with keeping even ten paid staff on a casual basis, I imagine, would be staggering). Volunteers who are willing to give up their time, head out to working bees and the like, will more than adequately do the job of keeping the wheels turning and maintaining the line, as long as their time given - away from their families and other life commitments - is seen to be valued by the organisation and the management, and is recognised as such.

As I said, personal wish and it's perfectly understandable that they may not do it this way, but this is the basics of what needs - or should - be done to re-open one of the greatest tourist attractions in the Lithgow/Blue Mountains area.

Anyhow, back to my Trainz... :)
