Battern Down The Hatches

Hello' Everyone.

My uncle John in Maryborough, has told me that parts of Walkers Lmtd [EDI Rail] & the old wharf line has gone under in the Mary River Flood, is going to get dire this week when the water reaches the town from Gympie. In Gympie the town is cut in two but the railway still spans Deep Creek, i can not see why the MVHR could run a service with the RM 2000's over Deep Creek, they did that back in the 1993 flood.

I myself have been in currently in Warwick, the town is 'cut' in two, but still the railway can still go though the town until you get to Grantham which the line is according to my sources cut by depries. I will ask SDSR if they could try to ferry goods out and in. I had to save a young 5 year old [with rope tied to a tree] from walking into the swollen river, i grabbed him just before he stepped into the water, he will thank me becuase we do not want a loose of life in this climate of gloom. :D

Lastly my house in Brisbane & our property in Bell (which is close to be flooded but all that is stopping it is a moat that we built to divert water), but we will pray for a miricle. Here is a picture of the Bremer River Bridge near the IRW, the water is up to the first bar; it is going to get worse.....

Thank You Everyone, for showing support and I know this is not allowed at these forums; but please do donate to help those going through a hard-time here in Qld. That would mean the world to some lucky family. Our thought and pray's are with others

Kindest Regards

Has been an interesting day if that can be said. I did somethoing I never thought I would have to do...tell work I can't come in as I was floodbound!! Bruce Hwy cut between Burpengary and Morayfield, all service roads cut on either side so no way to get to the depot. Even if I could have, there was nothing to be done as no trains were running due to the exteme conditions and some of the repurcussions from that ie debris in rivers hitting bridges. Just to finish, if you are travelling, BE CAREFUL. If you wish to use public transport, check the Translink site as ALL train services are suspended and will be till morning and will then be operating on a reduced timetable. Anyone wanting a bit more info, PM me so thread doesn't get clogged. I don't have a lot of info but will give you what I know.
Regards
Glen:confused:

Stay safe

Being from the Far North Coast of NSW I have been through dozens of floods, I remember at least 3 in one year.
Kyogle my home town has had two this year including a few days ago. Not as bad as those in QLD.
Fortunately my mum is fairly high up on a ridge.
The best thing was that we would be cut off from the schools when it did.

Thought to all those affected.

G'day!

Just heard a warning for the Murray Basin. That can't be good. The rain is torrential in my part of town!

Cheers! :)

Floods & Steam In Suburban Brisbane

Hello Everyone,

@Patchy, I am shell shocked what the floods have done to the NCL. Is going to take weeks to get the track back online and it good to see Bill safe.

My property outside Warwick is isolated and flooded in a sea of water.Thank goodness It has not reached the house [or even distoryed it] with all my precious railway collection of S Scale models, Library of Information and my other belongings. But this not as we fear for at house at Ascot, which is nearly on the brink of flooding.

@ad602000: I do, I did some a recently for my QGR B13, B15 Converted. Drop me an email if your wish.
@Bill, Is there a chance you would email me, I would really like to ask you a few thing for my Main Southern Railway
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Now to resume regular prorgramming with something trainz related; Here is something that I have been working on for my DEM 1951-1960's QGR Brisbane Suburban Network, I know some QR people inculding Scott will love this. I will release it very shortly, so no gimme pigs or they will be shot:hehe: . A QGR D17 268 {Now with RAILCO in Nth Qld and called "Capella"} It will be two versions; QGR When In Service in the 1950's with period custom destination boards and it preserved form all with steam effects & a footplate crew. So here she is at the moment;

Isn't there already a DD17 called Capella? On "Down the Line:Trains" hosted by Scott McGregor he mentioned a railway where there was a C17 called Roger and a DD17 called Capella

Callum, your quite correct regarding Railco but I have to correct you; they do not have a DD17 but a D17 which was the ancestor of the "Blue Babies" from 1920's. The DD17 were a improved re-design of the D17 4-6-4 tanks and they had tinker roller-bearings and larger footplate which was part of the 1949/1950 QGR Post War Re-habilitation Program. I love that show, i put up the titles on youtube but yet to put the whole program up. He should do it again, but explore every state bit by bit becuase he missed out some bit in QLD.

I have been wanting to make No.268 "Capella" & Roger in trainz. I have done Roger but I am currently making Capella {below}. I am going to make the RAILCO operation in trainz. I will release it very shorty alas I hope you like it as much as it do.

Trainman; awesome effort.

Roma Street Platform 5, January 12 1955. The quiet is disturbed by BB18 1015 with a Thornside bound service.

Ryan, you really do not need to call me that, Michael would be nice. I really do not want another ego trip. I hope you like my D17 and i will be making some Evans Carriages to go with them.

Yes, correct Commissioner. D17's were circa 1920's, DD17's circa 1940's. DD17's were numbered in the 10## range.

I can only imagine how terrible the floods have been over there, hope everyone stays safe. Over west we just had another big bush fire just south of Perth, with i think around four homes destroyed so far.

What a scary country we live in...

I've just thought of something... What's the situation at the Ipswich Railway Workshops? Flooded. Not really a good thing with oppperation locomotives and rollingstock stored there. Any updates? The news hasn't given much except that the whole town has been evaced.

Timo

IRW Is fine mate

Timo,

Just relax, IRW is safe & well. I stopped there this afternoon. The water has not even gone up more of the first rail of the Bremer River Railway Bridge that connects the Workshops & Ipswich.

It was just business as usal and they had the C17 going for a test in the yards. Water never stops QR Heritage

Kindest Regards
Michael G

My hopes and best wishes go to those who are in the flooded regions of NSW and Queensland.

Michael, glad to hear you haven't been flooded out. I've done a mesh for your B13's boiler barrel and firebox. Hopefulling it is of use to you. The D17 is looking very nice so far. It looks rather overscale though, judging by the grid map. Don't push yourself too hard. Take a break when you want, and don't worry about the gimme pigs. It's your layout, take it at your own pace.

Forest, I look forward to your email. If you want, I will email you what reference material I have on the Camden line if you're interested.

Cheers, Evan.
