Australian screenshots

Pete,

Love all your layouts, great to have high quality realistic layouts. I have long enjoyed your work!

I would personally like to see the NCL continue north or south from Casino or the border. But as Petan says it's really what you find most creative that should drive you (although demand for a certain layour may be compelling too).

Just a curiousity, why is Casino-Kyogle double track? It's just unusual as it was never double track.

Also out of curiousity, what era/year was the Casino station layout? It's interesting with the double platform.

Keep up the excellent work!

Mark

G'day! :wave:

Here are a few from SL4 (Southlines Four)

Ah, I hate to be a rivet-counter Rastis, but I don't think it would be possible for AN10 to appear in your lash-up in real-life (with an AN class in PN livery), as it was scrapped back in 1997 after being completely destroyed in the tragic Hines Hill collision in 1996 (a recent issue of Railway Digest magazine had a detailed article on the AN class which mentioned AN10's sad fate.) :'(

I'm sorry if I seem to be nitpicking, just I wanted to point it out. Your images are very good anyway. :)

F class #178 leads a short goods service through Boolarra.

Due to the F class being fitted with screwlink couplers, as well as the 'G' car, the train requires a wagon with transition couplers to be in the consist. In this case, the train has a WT wagon (fitted with 3 link and automatic couplers) to allow the F class to haul the train.

Enjoy

It's looking really good, Pete. SAR's Melton Valley line is calling for this one...

The photos I have of the class has them running goods trains, passenger trains and ARHS specials... I think anything goes with this one.

Really great job again!

SAR Steam Locomotives

Hello' Everyone,

Well Forrest; Did some Rx's run on the Melton Valley Line becuase after I finish off my QGR B13 Kiston's, I am going to come home to South Australia and mix up an RX class bogey & frame in Gmax. Forrest do you have any diagrams of the RX Class I could work with; PM/Email me please?

I adore the RX class, It it my favourite S.A locomotive becuase I grew up at Victor Habour just before I moved to Adelaide then off to Townsville. I can still remember the sound and the loud whistle as a very young lad...oh I am in heaven :udrool:

Some new shots from the Strzelecki map (albeit of the mainline). Finally got around to doing some more work on the map again today, so figured I should take a few pics :)

Enjoy!

Hi Zec,

You produce some mighty fine screenshots that really capture country/rural Australia beautifully.

I think I've said this before in this very thread, but if you had a rusty version of that track in sidings and overgrown areas, you'd have some awesome, photogenic scenic wonders!!

I don't mean to sound like a gimme pig, and apologies if I come across that way.

Cheers.

@Zec

Interesting screenshots.

As a matter of interest because Australia is on the News at the moment due to the awful floods and, dare I mention it, the Ashes, I decided to look up the station in the last shot, Tooradin, in Google streetview, to see where in Australia it is located and if it would be affected by flooding, it's way south of Queensland in Victoria infact. I found the railway lines where it crosses Dalmore Road and it looks disused, a real sorry sight.

Your representation of the locale looks pretty accurate.

I hope the Queensland flooding disipates soon.

Cheers,

Rob.

I did! :D (enjoy).

Nice work Zec.
That two wheel gravel track works well, & I've not seen that 'skinny' wire fence before?.
Happy New 2011 too. :wave:

@Forest_Runner
Yep, I do plan a rusty version. Not for a little while though... Got a few too many projects on the go. But I will likely re-do the textures, etc, again (too many issues on the current ones).

As the line I'm modeling is the South Gippsland line, in the 1920s-1950s (fairly generic time frame, as I don't have much info on some of the stations), the track is fairly heavily used by coal trains (such as the one shown).

@Rob
Thanks, glad to hear that it looks about right :) Technically the map only covers a few miles of mainline (tooradin to monomeith), however it covers a long dismantled branchline to Strzelecki (you can follow most of the formation to Bayles, and on from there - it runs to the east of Koo-Wee-Rup). Thankfully the area isn't flooding, at the moment. The second shot shows one of the many 'drainage' channel groups in the area to prevent this :)

@Nbrettoner

The fence can be found under my username :) VR Trackside Fence 1/2 (2 has no 'end' posts). I need to re-do the meshes on these, as they are fairly inefficient, and cause the limiter to take effect...

thanks guys!
