Australian screenshots

Well you know me. If I can't find it, I'll make it. When they're done of course I'll be sharing them :D

Where's my Bi-Centennial screenies Raichase? :p

Mattm: Surprisingly? Little time at atll - Less than two hours for QR Wallaby Creek, and once you learn the secrets, can build something that looks at least 'presentable' in next to no time. I'll give you this one for free - templates are your friend :)

A lot of my 'yards' are purely and simply done, using the excellent 'yard guide short' template - I should do a tutorial (with screenshots) on how to use it properly - albeit its set at (I believe) 4m spacing, but I make do :)

Muliebuck, any tip is a good tip. I do have a few templates off the DLS, i guess 'yard guide short' is my next addition. As for being able to knock up a decent route in 2 hours, i seriously doubt it. I lack a few essentials, such as patience, which is a biggie. As i believe i've said before, i have no probs in getting a workable track arrangement down; it's the detailing where i get stuck.
I should probably take a few pages out of your book, and go for just a suggestion of a town, rather than a full blown metropolis. That is where i tend to get bogged down.

Cheers,

Matt.

Yard Tutorial - Part 2

Delete the extraneous track, we don't want it anymore, and make sure you remove any 'extra' point levers, etc.

Add some extra splines, along the track, which will form the turnouts onto the yard sidings.

Run the start of the siding tracks out, don't worry, they'll naturally 'curve' but we'll fix that shortly.

*important!* don't forget to 'straighten' the track just before our turnouts, for a nice smooth transition. (zoom in if you can't see it properly, and use the 'straighten track' tool, just before each spline, after the first.

It should look like this - once the tracks are straightened, and the 'template' removed.

All done! Just got to apply textures, scenery, signalling, speed boards, etc - thats a very simple yard, done in next to no time - above all, practice practice practice with the template - once you get it figured out, it'll save a remarkable bit of time and effort, and give you very nice looking yards!

Muliebuck, legend mate, you are a legend. Hows' about a tutorial showing the creation of one of your masterpieces? Just kidding, a magician never reveals his secrets, as they say. Besides i'm sure you have better things to do.:p

I shall definitely use that 'yard guide short,' now i know the secret. Just join the dots, straighten tracks, and bob's your uncle! (Or not.)

Cheers, again,

Matt.

Nice stuff Muliebuck :) A+ for that short tutorial.

Davido, nice screen shot once again, Very nice rock textures. Do I spy a new catenary in that shot? The double track one?

Great pics all round everyone :)

Cheers

Trent.

Awesome shots Davido!!... and awesome shots and mini-tutorial Mulie!! Great stuff.

Some from me messing about with some sunrise fog shots. In the mid 70's, #523 (Essington Lewis), is conducting an ARHS Long Weekend tour around some of SA's rural lines. The sun is not long over the horizon, as the tour gets away from Melton Valley...

If you want to put catanery on it when its done, please do! I'm not wild about sparks and wires personally, but hey, once its released, do what you like with it - I don't mind :)

Davido - so you've made the texture(s) yourself? Very cool! I look forward to using them myself! I thought you'd found 'em on the DLS!

Does Anyone Know of a good platform for a country NSW route?

by the looks of it the trains will be empty as the stations wont have passengers

fsx trains

what kind of country location ? Platforms in country areas tend to vary a little in regards to locations. Also what era are you looking at might be helpful to know.

Daniel,

Whilst I normally go hurtling through these areas at around 160km/h at 4am, I can really see the place coming to life. I love seeing screenshots of your route, it is most realistic and accurate. Very well done and I cant wait to sample it in the future.

That last screenshot of the legendary 3801 is excellent. Those 38's are also coming along very nicely. The mighty pacifics are my favourite steam locomotive.

Narrow Gauge

Hi Trainzerz

Davido, Daniel everyone else, love the screenshots. For the route im currently doing, my standard gauge line has gone into the hills I guess you could say. NSW content is being used for that and I am hoping to electrify my main lines with Davidos new content. Anyway, does anyone know if there is some sort of a concrete bridge/viaduct for narrow gauge anywhere?? I have 6 AN SAR 830 Class Locos as my permanent narrow gauge trains. I would like to have them run in an underground tunnel system for most of the way then come out into open cpuntry land. Just need a bridge thats is concrete looking for them to run down into the tunnel system. Please help.

Thanks, SARRailways :):D:):D

Davido, 3830, Forest_Runner and, of course, Muliebuck, great shots from all.

fsx_trainz, try Station A2, A4, A6 and A7 by Natvander; these are interactive, but may be slightly to large for what you want. Worth a look anyway.

Cheers,

Matt.
