hi all
Here something that could happen in todays changing railway scene.
would be good if it did. i would love to hear 4 of these going over the mountains.:)

In an interesting development deveopment Pacific National has brought all stored ex NSWGR 422s from ARG for use on southern coal duties. They will be marshalled a quads to hual 42 coal wagons. PN is now in talks to buy ex QR 1460 for these Duties as well.

I Did a Search for Victrainz in the DLS web interface and there were no results

Search for Comtrain, it'll show up under his user ID, and Rowdy, want a preview of the route before it goes 'live'? I can do that :)

Zec: Looks like its had a major update since last time I bothered to look over the RBR :)

Cool Zec:D What does RBR Stand for? Because that doesn't look like the RazorBack Railway.
The A2 looks pretty much finished:D Except for the tender which seems to have beached itself:hehe:

Great shots everyone, Should post here:)

QR Wallaroo Junction (work in progress) - fictional Queensland Railways branchline, rail motor halt, with loop and goods shed/associated infrastructure on loop line.

Limit of Shunt boards, with semaphore, protecting shunt movements within station / loop.

Opposing movements are halted here, at the outer home.

muliebuck20100627001272.jpg

Stillr retains steam era gated crossing...

muliebuck20100627001473.jpg

Wallaroo Junction used to be a prosperous town - now - shops are closed and the majority of people have left for greener pastures...

muliebuck20100627001573.jpg

Wallaroo Junction dozes in the late afternoon sunlight, the cicada's starting to make their noises in the trees, as the grass slowly but surely begins to reclaim the line...

muliebuck20100627001773.jpg

Guards on the goods trains, or the locomotive assistant, usually conduct the safeworking on this branch...

muliebuck20100627001878.jpg

Wallaroo Junction goods shed sits forlorn and lonely, the corrugated roof ticking quietly as it cools, the days of multiple people coming and going, their boots on the old timbers, loading and unloading produce and goods - a long distant memory...

I'm experimenting with rock textures :(

*snip*

David

Don't change diddly-squat, boyo. Those rock walls look as good as any i've seen on any route. They look very realistic.:Y:
So spill: what textures are you using there? I need to know! The route looks luvverly, mate. Very, very nice.

Muliebuck, i love this work of art. How many hours have you put into this latest masterpiece?

Cheers,

Matt.

Seconded - I'll find a use for them, I am always experimenting with rock textures, and am rarely happy. I have found a couple of "dirt" type ones that work for shallow cuttings and the like, but no real good rock ones that look realistic. So many of them look like a 3D photo of a mountain smushed into a flat surface and repeated over and over again - more like a wallpaper!

Davido, once again, your whole 'smoke and mirrors' is a treat to the eyes, and I agree with the others - that rock texture and how its done, just feels so natural :)

Mattm: Surprisingly? Little time at all - Less than two hours for QR Wallaby Creek, and once you learn the secrets, can build something that looks at least 'presentable' in next to no time. I'll give you this one for free - templates are your friend :)

A lot of my 'yards' are purely and simply done, using the excellent 'yard guide short' template - here's a 'tutorial' of sorts, showing how I lay a yard, using it.

Empty, boring baseboard...

muliebuck20100627002096.jpg

Lay a straight bit of track, this will become the yard throat track

muliebuck20100627002196.jpg

Select the Yard Guide Short, and lay it 'over' the track, align it with the track, for a nice smooth edge. (Dots should be on the centre of the 'straight' track).

muliebuck20100627002296.jpg

Using the 'guide' lay another piece of track, this will form the 'turnouts' for the yards we're about to make! (use the dots as a 'guide' to help line it up properly) - also add the 'turnout' onto the yard track, as can be seen in the foreground of the screenshot.
