G'day all,
Thanks Roy for the kind words.

Looking good there.

What's the level crossing you use, I can never find a good Australian crossing on the DLS.

There are some other Australian level crossings that are fully adjustable (eg. Either with or without boom gates, lights, pedestrian access, signs, etc).
Some don't meet the T:ANE build standard, but elstoko's are build 3.7 and work well.

<kuid2:368725:40000:1> QR Level X-ing 2L 1T 90 42in
<kuid2:368725:40003:1> QR Level X-ing 2L 2T 90 5m 42in

I didn't list all but I do prefer them because they are versatile and suits either city or regional use.

EDIT: Whoops! I just checked a route with these level crossings and the boom gates are out of control. Err,... keep looking!

Cheers,
Roy

EDIT: This NSW level crossing was created by Davido <kuid2:60723:1246:1> NSW 1 Track Level Crossing. It's what you see is what you get,.. and it works automatically. Used with NSW Highway 2 by Natvander <kuid:61119:955556> they blend well together. I also use Crossing Checkrail 32 which gives a clear definition of separation with the road and track.

Been playing around on Graeme's route with a couple of grain sets. A V/Line X Class #x93 collects a full load, whilst a Freight Australia G Class #511 waits for clearance.

Cheers,
Roy

G'day everyone,
Some really good shots lately, really enjoying seeing all of them.
@David, your Geraldton route looks great and I hope the Oaklands one is making progress as well
@Roy, thanks for playing on my route, it's very pleasing to see. The 3rd version isn't too far away.
@Ghosty, love the Santa on the water tower.
Just a few from me of progress between Kapooka and Uranquinty

Hawkesbury River elevated coal bunker, 1950-1960

In 1950 an elevated coal bunker was commissioned at Hawkesbury River to service the standard-goods banker engines stationed there to assist most goods and some passenger trains up the Cowan Bank. The design of the bunker was based on plans for previously-established bunkers, the first appearing around 1910, all utilising 12"-square ironbark beams. Massive bunker structures holding 1000 tons of coal or more were in use at Eveleigh (1500t), Enfield (1950t), Demondrille (1100t), Harden (1200t), Broadmeadow (1000t) and Junee (1000t). South Goulburn, Cowra and Werris Creek had bunkers of 800 tons capacity. Hawkesbury River was the last such structure to be built. It was the smallest, holding only 250 tons in 5 bins, each with a loading chute. A unique design feature of Hawkesbury River's bunker was that the elevated provisioning road, accessed via a trestle approach, was positioned to one side of the bins instead of running over the centres of the bin apertures. This implies the designers anticipated the use of side-tipping wagons, and not bottom-dumping hoppers, to replenish the bunker. NSWGR did not possess many side-tipping wagons. In practice, old side-unloading S-trucks were mainly used, so some poor bastards had to get up into the S-trucks and shovel the coal out of the open side-doors into the bins. So much for labour-saving with the provision of this new facility!

Wonderful shots Graeme.

Your Aussie railway crossing looks so realistic and it's completely different to the ones used on Goulburn-Murray Lines v.1.

Can't wait to see your latest version.

Cheers and Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Roy

Thanks Roy, I am now making ATLS crossings which brings it's own set of obstacles but they certainly look and work a lot better and suit any angle. Goulburn Murray v3.1 will have these too when I get around to changing them over. Lots to fix from v1 & 2 but I'm getting there.
I hope you and your family have a very merry Christmas, take care and enjoy yourself.
Cheers
Graeme

Elstoko,

Great shots of the coal loading stage.... really impressive work!. A couple from me from my WIP on Hornsby-Wyong:

Lisarow with the Pacific Highway crossing. If anyone happens to have photos of this as it was in the late 50's would be much appreciated (I have a photo taken in early 60's sans level crossing from ARHS Bulletin)

Lisarow Pacific Highway level crossing in 1957

Mark, this image gives some of the detail of the highway crossing in 1957. Of special note is the manually-operated gates. A remarkably inadequate feature to protect the major highway connecting Sydney and Newcastle. Also of note is the narrowness of the road on the crossing. As I recall, this crossing was a black spot for accidents, and no wonder.

Nice shots Mark. The textures are spot-on. I look forward to seeing more of your Hornsby - Wyong route.

Cheers and best wishes for Christmas mate.

DD 639 waits at Healesville with the 2016 Christmas Special, ready to head for Yarra Glen!

1.jpg

With the DD working hard, the Christmas Special climes up to the Tunnel Hill tunnel.

2.jpg

A view from the cab of the DD as it drifts down grade from the tunnel.

3.jpg

The DD makes light work of the train as it crosses the flood plains outside Tarrawarra.

I hope to have the Christmas Train ready for release later today, but we'll see how it goes! This years will be free, but is only compatible with Trainz: A New Era. It might also include a couple of surprises!

Merry Christmas everyone!
