Adding new cars to traffic

Day do doh dont day doh
How do you add or change one car for a different one in the road traffic in TRS 06? I am trying to swop a car for a bus.

Find the region you want to alter in CMP. Clone it if you don't want to change the original. Look for the region you cloned, it should appear on the bottom of the list with your name on it. Click on edit then click on edit in Content Creator Plus. You will see a list of the vehicles there which you can change to the ones you want. There is a button next to them that brings up a list of everything. Find what you want and click it. Its good to know the exact name of the vehicle you want to use.

The cars on the roads of a route are defined in the region kuid for your route. Look in the route's config.txt file. If the region tag doesn't actually show the kuid number you can use this table to find them:

Australia,<kuid:-1:7801>
United Kingdom,<kuid:-1:7803>
United States,<kuid:-1:7804>
Germany,<kuid:-1:7808>
France,<kuid:149301:1003>
PTP Region,<kuid:151900:1>

Thanks guys all working now. I did notice that all content shows up in Content Creator Plus, does that mean you can have a house, tree, church etc moving along the roads:hehe:

Would be nice if there was an era option also! I got a download for 30s cars, but are no trucks included. I am looking into making my trucks a traffice add-on, but not sure how to do without omiting all the other cars as yet!

Here's a view of some.

And a loco without wheels!

One serious note, besides the 16 allowed cars(or whatever) listed in the region file, you can also put another 16 carz in the route's config.txt file.

Carz

Hi Bob,
I've tried many times to add more cars to my route. The instructions are always very vague and no matter what I do, nothing seems to work. I was told originally to add the cars to my config.txt file in my route. I was told to add car0, car1, car2, etc. However, nobody has ever made it clear what to do afterwards. Do you use the kuids? Or the names of the vehicles, etc.
Any help here would be appreciated.
Thanks

What version are you using? I can help, but need more information.

Number the cars in order. If you skip one none of those following will show up. Make your list look sort of like this:

car0 "kuid:67261:29033"
car1 "kuid:67261:29038"
car2 "kuid:67261:29003"
car3 "kuid:67261:29004"
car4 "kuid:67261:29005"
car5 "kuid:67261:29006"
car6 "kuid:67261:29007"
car7 "kuid:67261:29008"
car8 "kuid:67261:29032"
car9 "kuid:67261:35029"
car10 "kuid:67261:29069"
car11 "kuid:67261:29031"
car12 "kuid:67261:35021"
car13 "kuid:67261:29043"
car14 "kuid:67261:29046"
car15 "kuid:67261:29044"

Sorry to bring up an old thread, but I did a search and this is exactly what I needed. The only problem seems to be that my US region's config file in TS09 looks like this instead of the above:

car0 34
car1 35
car2 100638
car3 28
car4 30
car5 100622
car6 32
car7 100526
car8 37
car9 38
car10 100527
car11 41
car12 100624

How would I change these to an asset kuid of say, 67598:29001?

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

This is my config for the us and it works fine. A couple of cars two school buses a tanker and dump truck. You can change the kuid numbers to what ever you want.

car0 <kuid:266204:29007>
car1 <kuid:114172:29062>
car2 <kuid2:124017:20119:1>
car3 <kuid:114172:29056>
car4 <kuid:114172:29054>
car5 <kuid:114172:29050>
car6 <kuid:67261:29071>
car7 <kuid:128675:29064>
car8 <kuid:60238:49>
car9 <kuid:101031:29301>
car10 100527
car11 41
car12 100624
car13 <kuid:96914:152356>

Can I also change the volume, speed of traffic and frequency of each type of vehicle? In what order do the vehicles come out in, top to bottom? Might be a little strange if dumpers outnumbered cars 10 to 1. :hehe:

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

As far as I know, you can only change the volume (density) of traffic using the carrate tag in the config.txt file. The parameter value is minimum number of seconds between car generation and must be greater than 3. A carrate of 0 will cause no traffic.

Trainz knows that all builtin vehicles are of the default form kuid:-1:xxxxx so car1 35 is effectively car1 <kuid:-1:35> and car2 100638 is car2 <kuid:-1:100638>. I think this shorthand method was only used for earier versions of Trainz.

Vehicles with Headlights

Here is another list. These vehicles all have headlights that come on when it gets dark. Theres a dump truck in there. There are more that I didn't add and there are probably more vehicles that have headlights that I'm not aware of.
