UK Screenshots for Pre BR Blue. High resolution warning.

#5798. Thank you very much Ken I seem to be on the mend now. Your WHR NGG16 reskin is a lovely piece of work.

#5799. Tanker, you are having too much fun. Really excellent screenshots.

More nice reskins, locos always look good in black. A quick nitpick though! As locos in the LSWR/Eastleigh number series the L&B locos' BR numbers would have been 30xxx not 33xxx (as carried by Lyd in its BR guise).

re post #5805 edh6
Thanks for the welcome advice on the numbers, duly renumbered (hope I've got the logic correct).
I used your M7 textures for the original and the correction. Only took a few minutes to do.

Now a favour please when you get any time. Your excellent L & B rolling stock, auto numbers by any chance plus loads ???.

Nice one Tanker.

Thanks Neville and Annie! I do very much appreciate it and if I managed to get a chuckle or two out of you then "The Garratt Who Swims" achieved it's purpose!

Another delving into the South London Route. While I am putting the finishing touches on Bricklayers Arms, I stumbled across some pieces of content I have been searching for quite a long time. I decided to take a few shots of Merchant Navy - aptly named - "CGT" leaves London Victoria with one of the Southern Railway's most famous express trains - "The Night Ferry"..

#5808. Nice to see a Merchant Navy heading up an express Tanker.

#5809. Your new route is looking good Ken and those two Garratts are looking handsome in BR black.

I managed to take a snap at Bleakhorse Road goods yard before the PWD crew headed out on the job. A couple of the sections on my alternative Norfolk layout are undergoing major track realignments at the moment.

Working on the Bluebell Railway portion of the SR Project just for a little change of pace - boy there is a lot to do out here!

It's the annual Bluebell Railway Steam Gala and famous LBSCR A1X No.55 Stepney is double heading a peak hour excursion train with SECR P Clas No.323 Bluebell from East Grinstead to Sheffield Park. In the adjacent siding Ex-SR Maunsell Q Class No. 541 is waiting with an example goods train that is made up of assorted SR Wagons from both Pre-Grouping and Post-Grouping companies.

Passing Horstead Keynes the cavalcade is met with a large majority of other Bluebell Railway locos such as SR U Class No.1618, SECR P Class No.178, and LSWR Urie S15 Class No.847 (opposite platform). The BR Standard locos are getting serviced and refueled at Sheffield Park after taking the majority of the excursion trips earlier in the week.

V1 2-6-2T at Annfield Plain

A Gresley V1 2-6-2T on a saturday passenger service at Annfield plain station on the Consett branch.

x2aM1Ww.jpg

The branch is associated with the iron ore trains from Tyne Dock, but the building of the diversion via Beamish in the 1890s to bypass the original 1830s Stanhope & Tyne inclines meant that the communities of Pelton, Beamish, Stanley and Annfield Plain finally had access to passenger trains, though in the case of the largest town, Stanley, the station was not conveniently located due to local geography. Traffic grew steadily until WWI, but the 1920s and the arrival of the motor omnibus saw ticket receipts drop by over half. BR withdrew the passenger service in May 1955. There have been several attempts to restore passenger trains, most notably in 1980 after the steelworks closed, but they came to nothing. The 2019 campaign promise by the local MP to have the concept examined again is doomed to failure because parts of the route have been built on or used for roads, while most bridges were demolished.

Quick shot off the hills showing some very remote parts of this route. Will need some wind sound effects for this one haha.

So I'm going to do a 1964 version too (why I don't know) but I'm missing my diesel sounds. This will be even slower in the making but will have the same basic route and destinations.

Potteries Loop Line Local

Northwest England during the steam era. I am running a session on the updated Potteries Loop line route. A Fowler 4P 2-6-4T, No. 2307 is taking an evening rush hour local from Stoke in predominantly filthy weather.
