Windows Explorer in Win 7 - how to display an icons toolbar like in Win XP?

I'm new to Win 7, but one of the first annoyances I noticed was that in its Windows Explorer, I can only see a menu (File, Edit, View, etc...).

What I'd like is a toolbar with icons for commonly-used operations (Cut, Copy, Paste, etc...) as in Win XP.

Is such a toolbar an option in Win 7? If so, how?

If you mean the task pane in Windows XP, that was apparently replaced with the toolbar with the "Organize" button menu, etc., in Windows Vista. The Cut, Copy, Pate, etc., functions are now under that toolbar. Of course, this may have changed in Windows 7, but that is the way that it is in Vista, so if the Organize button is there, then that is where those functions went, and I see no way to switch back to the task pane. Of course, I am used to right-clicking stuff and selecting Cut, Copy, etc. The Ctrl+C, etc., keystrokes work in Vista.

Yeah sure, Win 7 has an Organize menu and also a menu bar with Edit as one of the main headings. But I don't want that, or keystrokes.

Toolbar icons cut down the number or mouse clicks by one third and don't require me to take my fingers off the mouse all the time. I can't believe MS would do away with something that was actually easier and more efficient at such common tasks...but it seems that they have.

Yea, I agree that it would be better if the user could enable the task pane if they wanted, or at least make the Cut, Copy, Paste, etc., functions display as their own buttons on the toolbar instead of in the Organize menu, if they so please. It would probably save a couple clicks.

Most of those functions are available by right clicking on the file, however I use a freeware file manager, Xplorer2 Lite, which for me does everything that Explorer doesn't, one day I might work out how to get it to integrate with Trainz. There is a paid for version as well, careful if you decide to try it that you get the lite version not the trial.USA

I've actually installed a freeware thing called Classic Shell which is supposed to re-establish a lot of XP-like features such as the toolbar. However it has had no effect on this PC.

I'm thinking it's probably because this is my office computer and the corporate IT Nazis have disabled any such changes to the operating system.
