This was the reason why I uninstalled Trainz 2009...

I now wait for the arrival of Trainz 2010, hopefully the above will have been fixed...

I have posted this... to see if anyone else had experienced this problem with Trainz 2009...

Many thanks for stopping by, to have a look at my screenshots...

I have never seen effects like this, but I always run in native mode and the other thing I notice is your gamma setting...... lowest setting ??? This can't be right surely?
John.

I experience it all the time. One reason, I hardly even open TS2009 anymore. I am learning how to use Railworks. Good luck on TS2010.

Have you tried reducing the draw distance down to a low figure, after all if you are attempting to create very foggy conditions you would not expect to see to the horizon?
John.

you didnt say what hardware and what mode you tried to use 09 in. there are many things that could be looked at. if it were me i would check my video hardware and drivers. i have never seen the silver land phenomena in ts09, only heard about it. i am sure glad it doesnt happen to me.

Many thanks for the replies,

I installed SP2, but it had no effect, it still produced the silver land, however, I did like the quick drive feature...(don't click on the blue train description in quick drive as this will stop all buttons on the trainz screen from working)

I also reduced the distance, but still the silver land appeared, it appears when you go into a tunnel or if the weather changes, rain will give you silver land, stormy will give you white land...

Here is my computer information...

I use Compatibility mode and Direct X, Direct X prevents flickering lights from buildings at night...

Hope this helps... I think the above will stump a lot of people now, as I have exactly what trainz needs to run...

Just hope this is fixed in Trainz 2010.

i think some of the problems with the fog are related to your 7300 gt. these cards have some problems. i did a quick google search bc i remembered having an issue like this in another game a couple of years ago on a 7300.

Thank you norfolksouthern for the helpful information, so it's possibly the graphics card that could be at fault and not the game...

The best thing to do is find out who has got this problem, and what graphics card they are using, from there we can all work out what type of graphic cards to get and also to avoid.

Having saying that, I think I'll need to upgrade the graphics card soon, up to an nVidia Geforce 8600, as that is what is recommended for trainz 2010...

Recomended
Windows Vista/Windows 7 (64bit)
2GB RAM
Core 2 Duo (or equivalent)
nVidia Geforce 8600 (or equivalent)
15GB Free Hard Drive Space "

I've got Trainz 2010 on order, and I'll see if it does it in that, funny how it does this in Trainz 2009 but not in Trainz classics UK or Trainz 2004/2006, very strange...

Once again many thanks norfolksouthern for taking time out to help me.

Hi Joe, I must agree with NorfolkSouthern, I have just run a diesel with lights on at night and using your settings in Options can not create the effects you have.
Bye the way, I have a nVidia Geforce 9800GTX+ and it is a brilliant card.

Thanks John,

I have just been looking at new graphics cards, but I'm stuck, which one in your opinion would be the best...

1/. PCI-e GeForce 9800GT 1Gb DDR3 2xDVI
2/. PCIe GeForce GTS250 512Mb DDR3
or
3/. PCI-e GeForce 9500GT 1Gb DDR2 1xDVI

the first two are the same price, the last one is cheaper, which one would solve my silver land problem?

Here is my computer specs again...

windows XP professional with service pack 3
pci-e gforce 7300gt 256mb vga, dvi, tv-out
asus p5b skt-775 core 2 duo ready ddr2/6blan

Many thanks John for this helpful information and also to norfolksouthern for finding the cause of the problem...

many thanks

Hi Joe,
I havn't time to find the ones you mention , but if you look on the above site you should find them.
The GTS250 1024 MB is on the above page and seems to be the updated version of my 9800GTX+
Hope this helps, John.

Thank you John,

Wow it looks a beast, thankyou for the above information, this came in very handy indeed...

Thankyou John for your valuable time and help

Joe Airtime

I think this one will be more compatible with the system I've got, I'm thinking if I get the GeForce GTS 250 1024MB, I might need to upgrade the guts of the computer as well, where-as if I use Geforce 9800 GT 1024MB, that should fit into my computer without swearing, blood and guts:D

Thank you John, once again for your valuable time and help, it's very much appreciated...

I deleted 09 because I could not get it to update without sliding down a 40 razor blade into a pool of alcohol then standing on my head with my arms at a 124 1/2 degree angle and my feet at a 26 degree angle from my knees while reading Tolstoy's War and Peace.

Too much trouble. I'll stick with 06 until things get worked out.

I only bought Trainz 2009 because of bad sound issue's in Trainz 2006,

I'd be sitting at a quiet country station waiting for a train, when all of a sudden, clunk, click, hiss, bang, you could hear a train from 1000 miles away, not realistic at all, so I bought Trainz 2009, and hurray the sound had been fixed, but now there was a new problem, silver land, I can't win...

If the sound was fixed in Trainz 2006, I'd be using Trainz 2006 today...

I've uninstalled Trainz 2009, because of the silver land, However I don't get silver land in Trainz Classics UK, so I'm using that at the moment, unfortunatly, it's back in TC3 - clunk, click, hiss, bang... but now with whistles and horns as well from 1000 miles away.
