Why has posting screen shots been such a pain lately?

I've tried Firefox and IE and with both it close to imposable to post screenshots. I've been trying post some for 30 minutes now and they're still not right. Every time for the last 4 months it's such a hassle it's almost not worth it.

Is anyone else about to blow their top over this?

You were able to post images before so what are you doing different from the past times when you included images with your posts?

That's the thing. I'm not doing anything different. Some folks mentioned Firefox doesn't play well with the forum now but I finally tried IE and it was even worse. When you copy and paste the link nothing shows up. I've tried several hosting sites with the same result.

I have been having the same trouble, but I think it's Photobucket's site that is the problem.
One day when I could not get it to work with Photobucket I went to another site and had no problems.

I've posted elsewhere about my recent inability to see images from HostThenPost (same problem as jjanmarine3). It's not specific to IE as I get the same insubordination with Chrome. I'm wondering if its down to some Windows security or NVidia update or something like that.

I am wondering about something else - When using my mouse wheel the screen sometimes drops a few lines or goes back to the beginning page or line lately, I think it might be my mouse packing up, but is it not perhaps also part of this problem, anyone else have this ?

Has your Internet Provider given you a free web space to use as some indeed do when joining up, often from some MegaBytes upwards, sometimes up to several GBs or so? If so, then it is an easy matter to upload your screen shots etc. and paste the link in the forum. Or even better, there are some "free" web sites, where one can do the same, Google for "Free Web Sites" and you get to see a zillion free web site BUT these usually want you to show some advertising or whatever when displaying content.

I bought my web space, about US$50.00 yearly here in Oz from a Pay web site Provider, no ads, no restrictions and I have a faaaaaaaast d/load speed. US$13 a year pays for my domain name and hey presto, $7.00 a month is nothing for using this privilege. I am sure there are similar pay for web sites available.

I know what I will ever use for my picture display and for d/loads.

I have experienced some of what the OP is complaining about, but I don't think it's my browser or the image site. Sometimes when posting a pic the dialog box opens, but when you C&P the link and press Enter nothing happens, and you have to cancel out. I have found that to avoid this instead of clicking on the Insert Image icon first, you need to click the cursor in the Quick Reply text box (where I am typing this). You should notice that the icon above for "Paste as plain text" will flash once, and then it's safe to open the insert image box.
At least that's been my experience.

Photobucket has made a big change last week. I spent over an hour trying to get it to work and today got an Emile on how to fix:delete cookies and history for your browser. It now works.

just gonna try it and see. I'm using Chrome & Photobucket. Normally I just copy the "IMG code" or "IMG thumb". So this is a copy paster of that:

and now using the forum's boxes.

both seem to work using Chrome. I only have Safari installed as an alternate browser so can't really check any further.

I would avoid using iE in general as it's quite an outdated browser, contrary to what MS would want you to believe.

Hm, weird.

I am using FF and Photobucket and I have no problems right now.
However, I had some issues with potatoebucket a while ago. Was uploading pictures and the upload rate dropped constantly. This is not the case anymore.

I've been having all kinds of problems posting images too if I click the "image" button up here ^^^^^ in the toolbar. The popup box appears, I paste the link, and click the OK button and it just hangs. MacBook running Win7 Ultimate and Firefox 16.0.2, and all my screenies are on ImageShack. I've since given up on the image tool and have gone to directly copying and pasting the code into the forum posts. If I post something that isn't in my ImageShack library, I copy the link and manually type in the {IMG}xxxxxxx{/IMG} tags (using square brackets). So all of my posts are text only. Then, when I'm ready to see what I've done, I click "Go Advanced" and I can see what it looks like before I "Submit Posts"

I had trouble both here and at trainsim.com using the image links, if you look in the lower left corner you sometimes see a JavaScript error message. My guess is that java and the latest version of Vbulletin are not getting along for some reason. What I do is view the image from imageshack, right click and copy the image itself and CTRL V to paste directly into the message window.

Thanks guys for all the feedback. I've looked and considered several of the suggestions with mixed results. I really would like to get to the bottom of this or find a work around for me. I'll keep playing around with it over the next few days and post my results.

Seems to be 2 types of problem here - some can't successfully upload images to the forum, others (like me) can't see images that others have linked (depending on what host site the image is on). I like the javascript/vbulletin theory but have no idea really.

I found image sharing sites have always had problems, gone on for years here. My advice, get your own blog site. I am not a regular blogger but have used mine for:
Comedy
Venting
Photos
Image sharing sites have been too unreliable here in my view, yes I tried one. I have yet to hear of one complaint about the photos on my blog (not all are visible unless I link them) and I got 3GB photo/video/media space free, I have not broken 10MB yet. Just recently in a TS12 topic posted a picture from my blog if anyone wants to test its visibility.
