Who is Tony_Hilliam and why is he breaking my Trainz

Okay, I'm sorry, I'm a bad speller and a loud mouth jerk. Tony_Jilliam should keep his job, he has to put up with a lot of people like me, that must be tough. People like me should not vent their frustrations at the forum.

I for one would congratulate Tony and his team on a fantastic wonderful product in TANE SP1. I have read numerous posts bagging Tane since it came out. Just as a matter of interest, I bought a copy of TS12 last week so that I could at least say that my opinions are informed. I don't know how anyone could say that TS12 is better in any way than Tane. On my low to moderate hardware (i5, 4gb, nV820m laptop) Tane is like a rocket ship comared to TS12. TS12 takes forever to start up, is very jerky with everything turned down and 1500m draw, content manager is difficult to use and the update content button caused a perfect vanilla install to have over 250 missing dependencies without downloading anything else to try out. On the same computer, Tane sp1 flies along with 3000m draw and other sliders on mid range with none of the jerkiness shown by TS12 sp1.

Contrary to the complainant here, Tony Hilliam has been exceptionally tolerant and responsive. I am really impressed that he and the NV3 team show the effort and trouble to respond to fans, and anti fans, on the forum - and genuinely try to meet Trainz users' problems. First class Tony and team! Keep it up - we really appreciate your support.

What I passingly think of this thread is how pointless. Okay the starter may be experienced but to assume because of that he should come out with what he does is bordering on the superior attitude and in view of the general liking of Trainz (hence a well used forum) around the world a bit out of the vast majority. Or is the average Joe to be sniffed at? And adding he is an American - uh? What difference does that make or is it a slight imperial thinking?!

To hate on T:ANE, you should've been about around 6-7 months ago. I doubt anyone on here would take you seriously, unless you actually provide factual evidence. Going along with your American theme, if you simply say 'I hate America', nobody will give a ****. Should you give decent reasons and ease up your tone, people will actually bother.

That being said, what are your specific issues? Can't name any, but can rant for paragraphs upon paragraphs?

My biggest issue is that it takes far more system resources than it claims to need. Partly, perhaps, because I have Windows 7 so it keeps locking up and crashing my computer.
( I downloaded the upgrade to Windows 10 three times so far. It keeps locking up and crashing when I apply the upgrade.)
Gamma testing the first release is always an adventure.
It's all good. I still have TRS04.

That would suggest your computer is not able to run Win10. Did the Win10 compatibility test succeed? As for T:ANE, yes it needs plenty of resources to run. The minimum are just that. It will get you in but don't expect any performance beyond that, especially if you attempt to push the performance sliders to the right. This is doubly true for the GPU subsystem.

Just because it is: "New", "More Shiney", "and does not have the good ol' look and feel of previous Windows", but instead now has lots of desktop app icons that I will never ever even use ?

Why people jumped into Get Windows 10 upgrade, is beyond me !

You can uninstall the Windows 8 2.0 - oops, I mean, Windows 10 nag by simply uninstalling Microsoft Update #3035583.

From Windows 7, search for Windows Update KB3035583 from the Control Panel\Programs\Programs and Features\Installed Updates, and the uninstall it.

Change Windows Update settings to suggest updates and allow you to select which ones to install (deselect automatic updates).

In the Control Panel\System and Security\Windows Update\Select updates to install, when KB3035583 is suggested for installation (again), hide it by right-clicking on it and selecting "Hide update".

Oila! You will no longer be harassed by Microsoft's nagware.

RRSignal, it looks like we both hopped on this issue. It looks like you have the update number memorized just like I do, too!

For those that jumped in early and now have regrets, there is a time limited (one year IIRC) opportunity to revert to the previous Windows version. You'll probably have to remove the nagware as per above. Don't know if there will be extra nags because you changed your mind.
