Four new gondola loads.
From the left:- Granite Aggregate, Clean Sand, Dirty Sand, and Coarse Sand/Broken Sandstone. Any more suggestions for the gondola?

PS. For the record, Adelaide tody has 43 degrees Centigrade. 109 degrees in the old scale. Tomorrow forecast to be 45+.

Very nice, Peter. The colors are great too. We have that pinkish-colored granite up here too.
Don't melt down there. I'm sure there is the humidity with that too which would make it worse. The weather will break eventually, I would think, usually with big thunderstorms.

Question: Are the rolling stock items on Trainzone the same as the ones on the DLS? I'm attempting to populate my TRS2010 install with all our 2 foot stuff for testing and devlopment. I will fix my website soon with the loco upgrades and a package of all my Maine structures. I will make some more structures as time allows, I pretty much forgot how to do locos without wasting huge amounts of time so have fun.
One major thing that would be nice to do besides making more structures is creating some 3D track with animated turnouts. The UTC track we have is looking pretty dated now. I have never made any 3D track so would have to figure it out. The 750mm stuff that the russian guys came up with is what I am thinking of for a standard to emulate.

The Trainzone stuff is the original build, the DLS stuff is built to build 2.9 so will run in anything from TRS2009 upwards. All the DLS stuff will obsolete the Trainzone stuff if they are on the same computer. I rebuild and test in the latest TS12 version
and unless some-one wants to prove me wrong, they are all free of warnings.
Improvements are, auto running numbers on all the non-powered stock, aliasing has gone so all the textures and the .im files are in one of four libraries, the individual configs reference the library. This means you can have as many cars as you want on the track at the same time with no number duplication unlike the earlier aliased cars
There are some new cars that didn't exist before. Freight cars are loadable, and all the passenger cars have passengers. (Western people which do look a little out of place in Maine rail car)
Re the track, look at this track <kuid:47439:38000> It may need a different ballast colour. There is also the very basic track we used on the DHR They are all on the DLS under my kuid about 20 different types. including rail-guardrail types for embedding in roads.

I'm prepared to modify these to yellow instead of the green, is anyone bold enough to suggest what yellow I should use, RGB values would be best.. Do you want to have all the set of 6?

Hi Peter,
From what I recall seeing at Edaville which was at one point the final resting place of much of the SR&RL equipment, the yellow was close to a school bus yellow if that helps.

As noted in a previous post, I thought that I had read somewhere, that the excursion car(s) were painted yellow. I went through my documentation and found the following information in the soft cover "SR&RL Passenger Cars" book published by Maine 2-Foot Modeler, edited by Gary Kohler. Gary is probably one of the most knowledgeable experts on the Maine Two Footers. I gave his website address in a previous post.
Here is what he wrote as part of the referenced document, which contains eight pages devoted to the excursion cars, with two plans and nine photos. " Two cars were kept stored for unknown reasons at the car house in Kingfield. Eyewitness accounts mention the color of thecars as yellow with white lettering".
One has to believe that the cars in question were numbers 27 and 31. It's also mentioned that the cars were not equipped with automatic air brakes - only having manual brakes tied to standard brake wheels at each end.
Unlike some of the original passenger equipment that made it to the museums, where during restoration some hidden original paint was found, the same cannot be said for the excursion cars. So what shade of yellow was used - who knows!
Ironically, some of the passenger cars (but not any of the excursion cars) that went to the Edaville Rail Road ended up with yellow paint schemes. This was when the Edaville was trying to survive as an amusement park. I have an issue of the June 1992 "Railfan & Railroad" magazine that has color photographs of these cars painted yellow. Since then most if not all of the Edaville equipment has gone to more traditional museums in Maine, and have been restored to original colors. I have ridden on some of them.
I scratch built a model of Excursion Car 31, and used "Polly Scale CP Yellow 404058" model paint , which is a warm yellow, with an orange cast to it, and it seemed appropriate. Hope this helps!

A question for everyone, I note the double side panels on the excursion car. Did Edaville raise the roof to accommodate the new taller generations.

Pardon my abysmal ignorance, but where do I download these from and how do I install them?

Ignorance forgiven because I haven't yet uploaded them. I was waiting for comment, I think they look OK but others may not.. My next task after I close this post will be to conver them to CDP and upload to my narrowgaugetrainz.com site.

The loads look great. Are these going to be mirrored on Trainzone with the carsets? Not a fan of the DLS and it's dismal speeds/crashes anymore. Trainzone has been my backup NG backup repository for every time my computer or hard drives blow up, plus it is pretty speedy when it comes to downloading files.

I have nothing against them being mirrored on Trainzone but there are physical problems. Trainzone-1 where all my content and others is hosted is 95% full, I am in the process of transferring ownership of the site to Mike Sutton and we keep striking problems. Added to this Mike seems quite busy these days. What I will do on a temporary basis is upload all the content to narrowgaugetrainz.com and post the links here. None of my hosted sites have an actual web page. If I did that, perhaps Mike could just post a link on Trainzone as well. If you want to host those links a well, I have no problems with that.
My problem is that at 85, I know I have a finite future, I have no reason to suppose that I won't see the new TANE next December but if/when I do shuffle off this mortal coil, my sites will die a death soon after. If you want to host the actual files as a backup you can, but the onus would be on you to keep them updated, I will update my hosted copies and tell you want has changed.

It has taken longer than I liked, too may real world things intruded. However, here are the excursion cars, resplendent in their new colour, they have been tweaked elsewhere where I was not happy with the originals.

The attached screenshot poses a couple of questions about the Cream Car #56, centre car in the screenshot..
1: Although it is really too dark, is the colour closer to the freight red of the SR&RL. I remember reading somewhere that there is some dispute about the colour and that it is considered to be darker than Box Car Red. Colour photos (printed) I have show the colours as being close to the screenshot. I have thought for some time that the current box car colours were too light but until now, I had nothing to go by. How close to the correct colour are the recent rebuilds in the SR&RL museum?
2: Note the difference in height. The cream car is correct according to the diagram I have, I am sure that horizontally the dimensions are correct, I had the track gauge to work from, but although I scaled the height accurately, I don't know whether the diagram vertical dimensions were correct scale. It is also possible that the adjacent box car which I made 11 years ago, may be incorrect, or it was modelled after one of the early lower boxcars. I will dig out the early plans and check.

Just thinking. I am looking at doing a Forney and need some thoughts.
Which one from these? SR&RL #10 or BS&R #8.
In many respects they are all quite similar so for general use they could both come from one mesh, just renumbered.
Has interest in the SR&RL waned, no comments about the yellow excursion cars and I would like some thoughts about the colour question in my last post.

Whereas I'm still working in Maine two footers I am still very much interested. Particularly in rolling stock, industries, and loads.
On the subject of loads. I thought I had all of SR&RL's rolling stock but Just discovered that I do not seem to have a 33ft staked flatcar for which I do have the Preload. Where can I find one?
The excursion cars look great but I have no use for them at this time. I'm working on a logging and mining route based in Maine in the 1950s and could use anything salient to that. Cranes. loaders, buildings, cars/trucks, etc.
