Where does Trainz2010 expect to find saved sessions/games?

I am absolutely new to Train sims but very interested. I bought the Murchison 2 stand-alone via Steam (first mistake). It's a little incomplete, but at least it gives me an introduction to Trainz.
Anyway, the thing I can't really live without is the stupid saved games are being saved in a location that Trainz can't find.

I see my saved file in the folder, so I know its being saved... but I can't load the thing... it's staring me in the face.. taunting me... "if only Trainz allowed you to browse to me, you could finish your session..HAHA!". Anybody out there have any ideas? Where does the full game store the sessions? Maybe it's the same or at least something I can try.

Thanks

Welcome to the forums.

As you have a standalone pack, this does not allow you to edit the route and has limited saving abilities. However, have a look for a Saved Sessions button at the bottom of the screen when in the Driver menu.

Thanks Shane... there is a Saved Sessions button, and it pulls up a box that I'm assuming will list all my saved sessions. Unfortunately the list is empty. And I think it's because it's looking in the wrong folder. I need to find out where my saved session needs to go in order for it to show up. Unless stand-alones let you save, but don't let you load, in which case, that's just a jerky thing to do.

Since I have a Steam version, the sessions are being saved here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\trainz sim 2010\UserData\cache\sessions

I'm willing to bet that isn't where the Trainz "Saved Sessions" button is expecting to find them, and that's the problem... though I could be wrong.

Can I check how you are saving your sessions? The standard way is either clicking Save when prompted during exiting or using the Save Game option in the menu at the top.

Also, what operating system are you using?

EDIT: It should find them in that location, provided it's actually saving them in the first place.

I'm saving by using the 'Save Game' option in the menu. I have Windows 7.

OK - the standalone pack will need to be set to run as administrator. To do this, locate the pack (likely location is where you stated in your last post minus the UserData/cache/sessions part). You will need to right-click each program file, click Properties, then click Compatibility then tick the bottom box before clicking OK.

I set all programs to run as Admin, but still no luck. I tried saving as an Admin, from the Menu and when exiting. But they still don't show up to Load. Very weird.

I just checked my saved sessions and the location shown is the proper location for saved sessions. UserData\cache\sessions is where it should be saving them.

Shane, yes they saved in the same location as before.
Thanks Alf, do you also have the Steam version or do you have a full version of Trainz? I'm wondering if the full version has them saving in something other than \Steam\Steamapps\blablabla (?)

There is a known issue with the Steam version of certain addon packs where there is missing items (Murchinson 2 being one of them). I'm wondering if there is a link here.
