What's Happening to the Content Creators?

... it may be a business to you, but it's a hobby to your customers. Think about it.

This line got my interest as it basically sums up my attitude.

I haven't uploaded much stuff to the DLS as I like to make steam locos and these take a long time to research and build. My last creation took six months. But what I like about Trainz is that I am forever finding clever stuff introduced by others than can add interest to an asset.

Just recently someone asked about animating doors in an interior asset that would be reflected in an exterior view. For those of you that know about these things you will realise that these are two different assets. I did some digging and found a bit of script for another purpose that solved my problem of the animated doors. So now when you open a door in the interior view of this loco and then go to the exterior view, the door will be in the correct position. I was rather pleased with that and that made the effort worthwhile.

Does anyone have a link to this courthouse that keeps coming up? It sounds like a real nightmare, and I'd like to see it for myself!

Hi all. It's been awhile since I've been around although I still read some of the forum daily though not always. I guess that I'm one of those meager content creators that doesn't create any longer. I have many reasons that I won't go into here although some of them have been mentioned in this thread. What has peaked my interest though is this courthouse that has been mentioned several times. I've probably missed a thread somewhere in my absence, but would be interested in seeing a few pics if possible. If there's a thread about it, I'd appreciate some kind soul pointing it out to me.

Thanks
and still wishing happy trainzing to all.

Mike

Hi Chris, good to see you.

Well, you haven't seen me much due to the fact that the power is out. Power is still not back on, but my dad got a generator working.

This is a sort of double whammy, because I play the PS3 often as a stress breaker. So, when the power comes back on, I'll have to use the PS3 as a stress breaker, and then get back to content creation.

That's a pretty big span of time I'm not doing anything. So yeah.

And Chris,I just check my e-mail,and I have also made a new PSD file for the GP38-2's. I have to make one more, and then I'll mix up some new colors.

Glad your ok, , NO worries, I will be waiting.....

I guess I'll get my feet wet too since I have been around these parks for years now creating stuff!!!

I think concent creators leave because they get bored and loose interest (burnt out), among other reasonable reasons like real life stuff, generally! LOL ... It has happened to me a few times -- And to be honest guys, it's hard to get back into creating contents after One leaves for a while ... it becomes like walking all over again!!!

From Auran point of view on how content has changed to now from yesteryears is simple -- less error free contents uploaded!

Anyhow, the new configurations are not that much of a headache if you keep it simple ... just don't eat more then you can handle, and stay within your own arena!

Good night
Ish

the story of my life, after a few successfull peices of content imported to game, i felt rather burnt out with trainz, and some issues arised with items like the animation of piston rods... but after having a break from trainz with RW3, i feel fresh, but i feel i will need to re-learn certain things so i can export successfully.

and i'd urge any content creators who are a bit nervous to show off your stuff, this was my first working steam locomotive in trainz, back in early 2011.

I can find a ton more pics of it if you feel like giving it a try!

Hello Everyone:

I am the creator that is making the Luzerne Courthouse for LVWRR.

LVWRR >>>>> Have to apologize for taking so long to get back to you with a progress report on the LCC Building.

I have been working 5 > 10 to 12 hour shifts at the new job since then, and competing each month with my 1/10th Scale Crawler Truck, and

riding in Cycling events since then on any days off that I've had (very few LOL)

After Labor Day, I will be back to 4 > 10 hour days and have 3 days a week to pursue hobbies, and well the girlfriend needs me too :o

I will say that I DID ask you for a timeline for route release back in June and well, ya sort of didn't give me one.... ;)

So, that being said, no-one else need start a new model >>>> mine is 90% complete structurally, but I could use copies of what seem to be MUCH
higher rez photos that you have for texturing, and the pillar, entry and window details > if you would. I will mess you with my email.

I also ask for a modeler to take my finished day only model and make the nightmode LOD etc for it please?
I can also make the major window sets semi-transparent > allowing LVWRR to light the model with interior light assets that respond to day/night cycles?

Also. please tell me when you would like to release the route > put it up for beta test etc etc ?? Much appreciated :D

Still here and NOW working on Trainz again... Rico

Well, it would seem that I'm kicking a dead horse on this subject. The pattern of folks saying they want to help and never following up seems to be alive & strong in this community. I believe the count is up to 6 people... I had one veteran creator say he will help with the project, only to turn around and say it's too complicated and he dosen't have the time for it. I also post help wanted threads that go unanswered. I believe it's time to start thinking about shutting down this project. It no longer fun, only frustrating. I really do believe that Trainz is dying a slow death due to the lack of good creators...it's become too complicated for most new folks to grasp.

It's a very big project and you aren't just asking for one or two simple things. My own back list is full of existing items I want to revisit or build and as you note others are in much the same position. Perhaps scale the project back to reuse more existing assets from the DLS or TPR?
