I currently have trainz 2004, my computer is getting older and i need to build me a new one anyway, so that is not a concern. My question is what trainz program should i up grade to. I really enjoy the surveyor part of the program, and building all those layouts i dream about but can't afford to build or don't have space for. what are the benefits of getting a newer game? which versions do you recommend and why? Is there a better paint shed program for reskinning rolling stock? I love the interactive industries in 2004 are the newer programs expanding the possibilities? Enough of my thoughts, Let me hear yours.

Hellfighterdss. This question has been answered quite often. I suggest you go to 2010 and 2009 forums and read. Not knowing what you will upgrade to and other info leaves us all a little in the dark. Welcome anyway.

Basically go TS2010. It has DXT texture compression so that sort of quadruples your graphic card memory and can make use of quad processors. So basically it can handle models with better textures and more polys. There are some other benefits as well.

These days its fairly easy to reskin so Paintshed has dropped out of favour.

Have a dig in here to see how to reskin.
