What new graphics card for a fluent ride and animations in TS12?

Hello,

I have two or three years old computer. I started with Trainz more years ago, first with 2004 and later continued with 2006. Since I have bought TS2010 and TS12 my rides on this simulator are more and more similar to "a big slide show". I decided to do something with it and I bought additional memories and increased RAM up to 12 GB. It didnť help.

Now I'm thinking about buying a new graphics card. Can you say me which card is the best/optional for TS12? Trainz creators suggest nVidia GeForce 8800, but this is not in stock now.

My actual computer:

Processor: QuadCore AMD Athlon(tm) II X4 630 Processor (4 CPUs), ~2.8GHz (14 x 201)
Memory: 12 MB RAM
Card name: ATI Radeon HD 5600 Series
Display Memory: 2167 MB

Operating System: Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
DirectX Version: DirectX 11

I can't almost run actual routes in TS12, because of "slide show" or simulator crashing. I can run Midwest Grain 1.x, but almost cannot run version 2.x. I can run all threee UMR2014 sessions, but can't run Halden Yard because simulator kicks me off whenever I switch view to outside cab.

My dream is to ride a trains without any crashes and with fluent moving. I'll be glad for any reference. Of course I can't say I will have chance to buy everything... Thanks

When upgrading a video card it's important to make sure your computers PSU (Power Supply Unit ) is powerful enough to handle the new card.

As well as that, be aware that if you choose an Nvidia card, you will need to completely remove the ATI drivers and install the NVidia drivers.

Another one to look for, is the mobo capable of taking advantage of the new card, ie PCI-E 1 vs PCI-E 2.

Oh we're a gloom and doom bunch this morning.

According to your posted specs, your system is using DirecX11. Trainz needs DirectX9 to run correctly.
