Weekly Server Outage / IRQ Chatroom ?

It seems that an almost weekly (weekend) server outage, has been happining quite regularly, lately.

Is there an IRQ Trainz Chatroom, or a separate forum that is active, and has many members ?

How can we converse when Auran Forums are down, for and as soon as Auran goes down, the entire community has no contact whatsoever, and we are totaly cut off from the rest of the community.

I went to several private generic forums, and the norm is: "No Users Online", "No Members Registered", or "Last Active Post-Feb 1 2009".

I think we can all agree that we need a backup plan for when the Forum goes down.

Well we all can't be as famous as Auran/N3V:D

I took the time a while back to put up an actual chat room using some pretty good server software actually on my virtual server. I announced it in here and had a bunch of people tell me they were all going come and participate, I finally took it down after about four months when it was clear that no one was showing up to use it.

They had the IRC chat rooms up for years, there was never more than 40 or 50 users on at any one time, and most of them were the same users day in and day out.

Server outages happen, I'm glad we didn't have another 2006 absolute destruction of the forums. That was my initial fear yesterday when it couldn't even find a route to the server. Of course that was after I checked all the other websites and made sure that they didn't close the doors and not tell anybody:hehe:

I could put that software back online, but I don't think it's worthwhile for me but my time into it because no one is going to use it. I'm surprised that I'm getting any traffic to my Trainz oriented domain to be quite honest.

Why not the TrainzProRoutes forum? It has been online since 2002 it seems, and it seems that a fair number of users from around here are registered. it seems that posting is a little slow there, also, so why not liven it up with some posts? ;)

Regards.

there is a Trainz IRC Chat set up on the AustChat servers. you can get the connection details by looking at the appropriate thread in the community section here. I have also set up a web client for that chat, which you can access by going to www.amtraktrainz.co.cc and clicking "Chat"
