WC Shotz

I think I got it now. I used the ATLS stuff and had to use ajs track eraser. Its a little tricky to do, but I think I got the hang of it now. Thanks for the help John.

I have a lot of photos to share. I am really excited to be able to finally mess around on this route thanks to WCL!

Got the signals working in Bradley. Thanks to John for the help!

An underpowered 115 car coal train in Junction City waiting for a warrant to go north on the Valley Sub to the Weston power plant.

Our train gets moving. There is a 10mph limit as we make the turn onto the Valley Sub. Look at all these poor people stuck waiting for the train. Thats just too bad!

Here we are swinging onto the Valley Sub.

Cool route. What does it all include?
It definitely is. WCL is the owner of the route and he did an awesome job. The route covers all of the Valley Sub in Wisconsin. This extends from Junction City, Wi all the way up to Bradley, Wi where the Valley Sub meets the Bradley Sub. The Valley Sub covers cities Mosinee, Wausau, Merrill, Tomahawk and Bradley. There are many paper mills along the line as well as a power plant which is shown in the pic above. WCL also has this route covering some of the Bradley Sub as well. This goes from Bradley to Prentice. I hopefully will be adding on to the route taking this thing from Bradley going East over to Rhinelander. My route building skills are minimal at best though. I am in the stages of learning things right now. All in all this is a very neat operation.

I forgot to add that there is a short line spur extending west in Wausau that goes to various industries such as the big 3M plant in Wausau. This may be the next train I run

More shots of our coal train heading up the Valley Sub to the Weston power plant.

The track in the front is the track that goes south to Wisconsin Rapids. Here our train is creeping at 10mph onto the Valley Sub.

The tracks veering off to the left are the tracks that access the Mosinee Paper Mill.

Another shot in the same area. This shot is on the opposite side of the tracks looking back at the Mosinee Paper Mill.

I would like to personally thank you for the stuff you have released on your web site. I downloaded a few things from there and appreciate the work you have done! I especially love the SW1500 switcher.

Ah yes, especially if I get the tracks to Rhinelander. Back in the 90's and early 2000's they used the SW1500 to take cars from Rhinelander to Bradley and back. I remember I woke up at 6 AM one morning when I was staying with my grandparents when I was a kid. My grandpa said he would take me over to Bradley in the morning as long as I woke up and once the train rolled through (he lived and had land off of highway 8 and only lived 1/2 mile from the tracks). Sure enough we beat the train to Bradley by about 10 minutes and there was a big long train sitting there as well. Not sure what WC called the train back in the day, but I think it was the Ashland to Wausau train. Later that day we headed down to Tomahawk to wait for him and it was 4 WC loco's with 99 cars headed south to Wausau. Its too bad you don't see that kind of action anymore.

Few more photos from my Junction City to the Weston coal plant...

Our train gets onto the lead track from the south to run the cars up to the unloader track.

Looking south down the siding. Its a long coal train coming in and will take some time to unload. The switcher engine will pull about 8 cars or so through at a time and then place the empties on the siding. Our BNSF engines in the meantime will sit on one of the siding tracks. The crew will go off duty and then tomorrow will come back to take the empties back south.
