WC In The North Woods

Today was the first snow.....Well it was not a snow that will stick to the ground but we did have some flurries in the area today as you can see....We are up in Marinette where we catch a CN train racing out of town on its way up to Gladstone...Power for this train was a C44-9WL and a C44-9W with 94 cars......62 loads and 32 empties


 
Conrail............SD80MAC.........Leads the Minorca iron ore train through Powers, MI enroute to Escanaba....The Minorca taconite ore train is a winter all-rail move from the Duluth area to the ore docks at Escanaba, Michigan....The season started early as you can see on this train today we have 2 SD80MACS on the point leading this train to and from the ore docks​

Before the WC came to Green Bay there was another RR running around this area on this line....The UP...The UP ran from Green Bay all the way up to Powers MI....The UP got bought out by the CNW in the 1980's where on this cloudy cool day in 1986 we catch train 931 the local that runs up to Peshtigo and back we see an Alco working the south end of the Green Bay yard kicking cars bucking and snorting as they go


We then caught him pulling his cut of long log cars into the log spur here at Peshtigo



He then pulls off of the log spur and onto a small siding to keep the mainline clear and wait for the cars to be loaded...The weeded over track is the spur that heads up to the Rat River paper mill in town

Okay now to the informative part :p I'm planning on making this a 'fictional' route but based on the same place's it is now. At one end there will be a large yard (with a Coal unloader) with a portal attached on the end and the other, a rarely used branchline (basically overgrown etc.) with a small yard (with another branch to a Coal loader) and portal. For where the branch starts off will be another large yard with a small piece of double track which heads towards another portal. Shouldn't take me too long to do, maybe will be done by 2009. It will be for TRS2006 SP1 ONLY. I think some of the content in the route has not been released yet but I'm sure my beta testers will be able to find out what they are :D

Keep work on your route and just takes your time:) and, ah that my fave ex-CR NS SD80MAC unit there lol (Norfolk Southern rules)! And your fave WC is rules too! lol:hehe:
 
Very nice shots Tom.....Man its been forever since I ran that route....There is just no time for me to work/run on it anymore...Always working......:confused:

Our first shot is we catch him coming into the town of Marinette


Passing the high school


Did a quick stop at Mc Donalds to grab some lunch


Heading thru the twin cities of Marinette and Menominee


Heading thru Stephenson


Coming thru Escanaba


And cut the cars off from the train and pulled up to the service tracks for servicing
