USA Pics (electric)

Hello,

I like your interurban screens normhart :-)

I just created some replacements for the buildings I used in the Municipal Transit Railway (TS12-Built-In). The new houses comes along with normal mapping, real-3d-mesh fire stairs, LOD and season change.
I plan to release these new buildings together with some additional PCC streetcars later on.

Looking great TUME! Very nice fire escapes. I have Municipal Transit Railway in TANE but I'm not posting any screenies until I fix the remaining 189 faulty assets (mostly .texture problems) I usually fix a few every day.

If you are looking for paint schemes or modeling candidates http://www.streetcar.org/streetcars/. I personally would love to see more of the SF Muni winged cars and I'd like to see the double-ended cars too. I rode on both back in the late '50 and 60's. ;)

I keep promising myself a trip back to "The City" to ride the cars again but my health (or lack thereof) is in the way.

BTW the nob on the front of the cars are take-up reels that are controlled from the cab. They reel in the line from the front pantograph, raising and lowering it. (rope I believe, the driver would have to get out sometimes to tug the pantograph onto the line when raised on a curve.)

Edit: Oh! I see you remodeled the Septa car, nice!

Hello Normhart,

I am sorry that your health does not allow travelling as you want to. I wish you all the best to get better!

Thank you for the compliment about the houses. It is always not easy to decide how detailed such buildings should be. LOD can do a lot but still the question is how much PC Power should be allowed to be used for such buildings rather than for trains. Eventually we have a RR simulator here where the RR stuff should play the main part while the things around is just extra stuff which should not “eat” too much PC power.

About the PCCs – I already plan to create the SF – 1050, 1051, 1055, 1059 and maybe 1057 and 1058 as well. Also I would like to create some more SEPTA cars.

> Oh! I see you remodeled the Septa car, nice
I did not change the SEPTA car since its release in T:ANE. So it’s the same one. But I added wipers to the SF-1052-PCC as you can see. Of course I will add these wipers to all of the PCC eventually.

Still I did not import the Municipat Transit Route into T:ANE, as I want to replace as much buildings as possible before I will do so – just to prevent the situation you have about the need to deal with all the older assets :-)
DmDrake kindly gave me permission to use his buildings in any way and so I will apply season change to some of his special buildings to maintain some kind of diversity about the buildings in the route. Also this will save some of his best buildings for the future of trainz :-)

I just wish I would have more time. At the moment I am “fighting” at four battles at the same time. The PCCs and the Municipal Transit Route update, the MILW-Drexel-Alberton expansion, the creation of additional seasonal SD40-2s and freight cars and at my MILW-S3-4-8-4. But unfortunately my day only has 24 hours and I spent about 10 in my job :-)

Yes, too much real life and not enough "play" time. I am looking forward to all of your projects reaching fruition and can't really say which I look forward to the most.

I was hoping to go to the Muni Heritage Weekend September 26-27 (http://www.streetcar.org/muni-heritage-weekend-september-26-27/) but it looks like I'll be undergoing various medical procedures during September and I have no idea whether I'll be well enough to travel by then. Perhaps I will try going in late August, I can take a ferry from Vallejo to the Embarcadero and ride the F Line. http://www.nextmuni.com/googleMap/googleMap.jsp?a=sf-muni&r=F we shall see...

The shadows in that picture are really nice.

Thanks MeowRailroad, shadows are about the only thing TANE does well. (and this is with Shadows set to Low - 2048). It took half a dozen tries to get this screenie. It was very difficult to get the streetcars assembled and positioned correctly. I still have not figured out what's up with the destination signs on the imported from TS12 streetcars, the three on the left. Sadly TANE crashed seriously not long after this session and I decided not to struggle with it any longer. After the next patch I'll try again.

Nice screens, love those New Haven electrics normhart!
I would love to go to SF, it's every streetcar/tramway enthusiast's heaven, they have cars from every corner of the globe including two from Blackpool, one of which I rode when it was still here in the UK.

Ah yes, the boats, one of the reasons I'd like to go to the Heritage Weekend since those are not in regular service. Nothing like them in trainz but I got quite excited about the Peter Witts until I realized they were nothing like the model in trainz. MUNI does have a couple of Melbourne cars that might be in trainz as Brisbane or Sydney cars by motorman1066. On my list of things to do. I'd like to fix up normp's SF route but I'm really not that talented. (I did get the cable cars working in TS12 though)

when you do see the muni street cars, I wonder if they will have the double end PCC units, and the australia cars, those were different.

I'm no expert, I think they tend to run mainly in summer. The unusual cars such as the Australian, Blackpool and Japanese ones don't seem to run as much, although if you were to stay a week I think you would see most of the fleet. But then again, I haven't been so I'm not 100% sure.

The double enders are in regular service (in fact #1006 is on it's way up 3rd St. as I type), so are the Peter Witts, not sure about the OZ cars though.

Backup at Fisherman's Wharf, Jefferson St.

As you can see TUME's cars have a lower pantograph than the route requires.

Sink 'em

Yes or look for a better catenary system I'd need to take a good look at the real world to decide. The route needs quite a bit of work though, it's missing most of the wharf buildings and the Bay Bridge amongst other things. The parts that are there are nice though.

Fisherman's Wharf

The Embarcadero and the Ferry Building.

On my very long list.

Hallo - nice to see the San Franciso Route again.

Yes - the route misses a lot decoaration besides the streetcar routes. But this is because the route has been created for the cable cars. Therefore most decoration is dedicated to the cablecars and the drops down in detail near the streetcar lines.
Also the terrain only route once provided by phishlipsatwork included the whole area of San Franciso. The Cable Car route does not - all surplus baseboards has been deleted and just a core remained supporting the Cable Car branches. Even the Golden Gate Bridge is just a decoration looking good from far away but has been placed at the wrong position. But this is not a mistake - I think all this has been done to support a nice performance back in the times of TRS2006 and Trainz Classics. Also it would need several man-years to decorate the whole San Franciso Route area route.

In 2008 I embeded the Cable Car route back into the original San Franciso Route area route and added something - especially near the Castro-Street-Loop. Inside this route I captured the Scenes of this Little Video below.
For those who own T:ANE Deluxe - the yellow PCC is the SFMTA PCC 1052 - here in its first "Beta" appearece freshly imported from the gmax files. Even for me it is some kind of cool to see the differecies to the 1052 PCC released at T:ANE :-)

Are you actually in San Francisco? LOL! that is funny.

That was beautiful TUME! The paint job on #1050 looks awesome! Is that some light rail I see?

@pdkoester Nope, I'm in the Napa Valley but within striking distance of SF on public transit.

I knew where #1006 was because of this http://www.nextmuni.com/googleMap/googleMap.jsp?a=sf-muni&r=F (I see that #1009 is at Fisherman's Wharf just now)

LOL, I clicked on the link and it said one of the cars was on Alcatraz for about 5 seconds, then it popped back to the rails.:hehe:

Hi Norm Hart

I did do some minor changes to my SF route in TS12 before importing it into TANE just for a look see.

No problems except a few trees missing.
The water colour in the Bay is very light blue, must be the Default Water.

Made no changes or saves in TANE.

Yes Tume I did remove quite a lot of boards from the Original Dem Hog Map, down sized for the cable cars route.

Norm.
