Updating Graphics Drivers

Getting Older :)
Something I have been curious about for the past few months since getting my new computer with Windows 7.

I was always told when installing updated graphics drivers in Windows XP to uninstall the previous drivers and then install the new drivers plus adjust my screen settings.

Is this still the case with graphics drivers in Windows 7?

BTW my Graphics card is from nVidia.

Not only is it generally advisable to uninstall old drivers, but it is a good idea to run a registry cleaner like ccleaner between removal of the old drivers and installation of the new ones. This also generally applies to applications as well.

You only need to do that if you switch from ATI to Nvidia or Nvidia to ATI.

ATI "strongly reccomend" unistalling old drivers before installing new drivers.

I always do this when installing new drivers and do not have any trouble with the results.
