Upcoming Lone Pine Branch

I seen the announcement of this new DLC route in the recent newsletter and it seemed to me to be an excellent candidate to merge with the Mojave route.

My first question is will that merge be possible?

Next I ran the Mojave route a week or so ago to test and update a session for TRS 19 Platinum. The session was released by JR a long time ago and no longer available but with some minor tweaks it works well on the TRS DLC Mojave Route.

Unfortunatly I found that the issue with tunnels that occured during the Beta for SP2 has not been fixed on one of the Mojave tunnels, there is a fence accross the tunnel and the gound texture at one end of the tunnel is elevated and accross the full width of the
track.

If is possible to merge the Mojave and Lone Pine routes as they are a natural fit will the Mojave Route be repaired as it is part of the TRS19 platinum payware package?

PayWare cannot be merged. Give it a try and you should get a payware type message.

Thanks for that, it is exactly that which raised the question. In SOCAL those two routes are in reality linked and for Trainz to be truly developing a world for trains It would in my humble opinion be reasonable for N3V to make it possible with two roules that they choose to sell through the "Content Store".

A good and reasonable approach. However, you may see N3V place itself behind the prospect that doing so would set a precedent. They control merging. Thus they can make exceptions. Perhaps they will see the economic benefit that encourages customers to buy another "specific" route to merge into a network/system.

A marketing strategy is buy, route 1 or route 2, and you get the matching route for $$.

I was running on it last night. It is done well, but the speed limit is 25 MPH on the main line. The session was 3.5 hours to run.

I have the network in Run 8 and yes it is slow but for a start at the pick up point you can be out on the Mojave tracks in 2 Hrs and then make some speed as a local and end the session at any point along the main Mojave line. But as we agree this is in the hands of others.

Hi DennR
Unfortunately, so as to prevent unauthorised redistribution of payware routes, we cannot currently provide the ability to merge a payware route with another route (either freeware or payware).

Currently we do support editing of payware routes, as our system will make it an 'alias' of the original payware route (this means that the edited route requires the player to own, and have installed, the payware route for the edited route to work), but unfortunately merging routes does not support this at the current time, and as such we cannot currently support merging payware routes.

Regards

Thanks for the clarification Zec, I do understand your position in part, but I also see a missed opportunity. Anyone who has bought two payware routes could have a chance to DL a merged version so keeping the control of merging routes within the control of N3V but increasing the opportunities for buyers to develop networks and enjoy the Trainz experience.

Can I also take you back to my original post and the reference to the faulty tunnel in the DLC Mojave route. I did raise this in a ticket during the SP 2 Beta, but it was not resolved. Regardless of the point on mergers there is also the issue of maintaining the products offered for sale or included in TRS versions. I see this as equally or more important that the question of merging routes.

Tunnel issues in Mojave Sub Division DLC (and other routes) have been reported long before SP2. Still not solved.

Can it really better the Run 8 version though, especially once the industry functions are set with the files from The Depot are set up.

In a Word NO but if I may mis-quote You "Building in TRS19, Driving in Run 8". I will build sessions in Trainz and still drive where there are physics that are predictable and manageable.

Actually I find myself drawn back to TRS19 for the route building, despite the numerous issues I have with SP2 from that POV. Guess I need to update the signature.

In the meantime I have about 200 cars scattered at various locations at Trona and West Potash either loading or waiting to be switched out into road consists to allow the next batch in. so lots of work to keep me busy up there (this is Run 8 of course!) Not to mention serving the other industry spurs in the Mojave and Bakersfield areas. Now if Trainz could offer that level of operation along with accurate physics then I might consider the route, but otherwise... as I said.

Re speed limits on the Lone Pine branch according to the track chart from The Depot, it's 15 MPH from the junction at Mojave to MP 382.5 just past Chaffee, 40 MPH to MP 422, 20 MPH up the hill to Searles Yard, 10 through Searles then 25 MPH down to Trona. Of course, Run 8 doesn't really penalise you (at least in SP mode) should you decide to proceed a little faster!
