Okay, I've had three request so far for discs, and I think I'll go up to ten (if it gets that far) before this offer expires!
I'll try to send them out on Wed morning.
I've also had some questions mailed to me, which I'll attempt to answer here, so it may help others as well.
I've been asked about what I use portals for, and to be honest, the Gilby&Wallace is the first route I've ever used them on. For the most part, I've got them at the "ends" of the route, which, if you go into the one on the right, it will just turn the train around in a minute or two, and will exit through the adjacent portal, with empty trains returning full, and full trains returning empty. If you enter the portal on the left side, they will return you to a portal somewhere else on the layout - though I can't really remember which one leads where!!! It's not the most scientific way of doing things, but it seems to work for me.
As far as how I work the industries (using waybills, etc), I've never really got that deep into it. I do have numerous industries which rely on other industries, so I'll try to do a bit of a summary of the way I've laid things out.
First of all, there is a crude oil depot near Gilby, which provides an unlimited supply of crude oil, which needs to be delivered at some time to the three refineries - 1 which produces aviation fuel in Sherwood, 1 produces gasoline near Lakeridge, and the last one produces diesel fuel, in Halden. There are places to deliver the gasoline (Gilby, Ogden, and Blainseville), and aviation fuel can be delivered to the two airports as well as the heliport in Ogden. The diesel is a little more important, because the mines and the forestry industries require diesel to function. There are also a couple of depots to deliver diesel to in Clarkseville and Wallace. Also, crude can be delivered to a pier east of Palmer, and a small depot in Gladston.
I know this sounds confusing, but most of these industries will run for many hours before running out, so it's not super-crucial to keep everything supplied.
As long as the mines are kept supplied with diesel fuel, they will continue producing coal, which the looping AI coal trains will supply the power stations to keep the power coming.
There are some industries that require electricity to keep functioning, so if one of the powerstations runs out of coal for any reason, some industries will cease to function as well until the powerstation starts up again.
Those are the main mission-critical industries - all the other ones I just use when I feel like. For example, I may feel like delivering some general goods to a warehouse in Oakwood. I'll get a locomotive, and find some empty boxes, and find an industry that produces general goods, and pick some up, and deliver them. Nothing too scientific - just whatever I feel like doing at the time.
There are far too many industries to tell what everyone does, but when in driver, you can right-click on an industry, and it will tell you to either load or unload a specific commodity, whether it be lumber, coal, general goods, i-beams, sugar, etc, etc.
But I understand how confusing that can be, so maybe you just want to sit back and run a train around and check out the scenery - that's cool too!
I should really stress that if you want to use the industries for any period of time, use the "Base Session" as your starting point, and add your rolling stock to that one, as the pre-programmed coal trains will keep the powerstations supplied with coal.
I hope this helps a bit, and if anyone has any specific questions, please feel free to continue with this thread, and I'll answer them to the best of my ability.
Man, that was a lot of typing!
Cheers,
