Ultramegaroute soon to be released

anyone know a car carrier that will work with the route? think it has to be lars. i would like it to be open so i can see the cars and a USA version. thanks.

Just an update - I'm about 3/4s of the way through the tediousness of switching the signals so there are none in between mainline tracks, and I've added a fair amount of ground textures along parts of the mainlines.

To address the aforementioned request about coal and water for steamers, I haven't started on that yet, but I'm looking forward to it, as stuff like that is much more interesting to work on.

I think I'll put coal facilities at Gilby, Palmer, Oakwood, Millhurst, and maybe Halden, and perhaps even at Gladston. I'm not sure, yet, but I may even put adjacent sidings to deliver coal to the tipple, if there is space available.

The water will be more plentiful - probably at just about every station or engine facility. It will be marked by either a water plug or a big water tower next to the track.

It will probably take a few hours to do this, not to mention that I have to do the same thing on the winter route as well! Will this thing ever be done???:D

These are the four interactive coal tipples I've added.

There are also interactive loco-diesel fuel and water tracks as well, but they're not as interesting.

This is the one at Gladston.

This is at Oakwood.

The Bigboy somehow found it's way to Palmer.

And finally, the tipple at Gilby doesn't get used much anymore - they've even torn one of the tracks out already!

I think the routes are ready - I know, I know, how many times have I said that?

Anyway, Jack - I've sent you the summer version via "yousendit", and if the transfer goes smoothly, I'll send it to you Paul, and we can talk about if you're still interested in hosting it.

Thanks to all for your patience,

n

There's that pesky Coal Train, Coa.... Coal, everywhere

Any news on the redo for the UMR new map sessions.

One thing I've found on the new map is that AI from Palmer Coaling to Gilby won't work. I will have to doer by additional routing commands. For some reason, just telling the engine to go to Gilby doesn't work. Haven't figured out just what additional commands are needed, but will let you know when I figure it out.

More later

Jack:D

P.s. Have also noted that the grass added doesn't seem to have a very long Draw Distance. It is rather local in view. Even with my slides all the way to the right. You see that, or is it just me.

Hey Jack

I think it's pretty much done - just running it for a few more days, and then I'll send it to Paul - one of the other testers, who has graciously offered to host it.

As far as the commands to send AI trains from Palmer to Gilby - because it's such a long distance, there may not be a direct route if some of the switches are defaulted in the other way. I believe TRAINZ drivers only look a few switches ahead to plot a route to take. For a quick tutorial of how I've set up the trackmarks, read on:

Drive via trackmark "A" east "B"
Drive via trackmark "B" east "C"
etc.

So:

Drive via trackmark Palmer west Powerstation
Drive via trackmark Powerstation west Barton
Drive via trackmark Barton south Burnfield
Drive via trackmark Burnfield south Drawbridge
Drive via trackmark Drawbridge west Refinery
Drive via trackmark Refinery west Lakeridge
etc,etc

As far as the grass things go, there is a post I did earlier which questioned the same thing - the reason is that they are LOD files, which only show small distances of splines to be easier on processors. It's just a matter of deleting a line in the configs of the splines in question.

I'll post the link as soon as I find it.

Hope that helps.

HEY!

Ive found that error as well Ive been tinkering with it for weeks now:o :D
Thanks Niel the route is great!!:) I need to put screens up soon.....:p

Ok, Ok. lol

I'm just too lazy sometimes Neil. Got the routing info and thanks. Copied the info on the grass splines as well. Will let you know how it goes on both.

Got some busy days ahead, so it will be a bit before I get back on this

Again, thanks for the info

Jack:D

Just to let you know, I made the changes to the Config.txt files on the FMA grasses and it works great.

Looking forward to more sessions

That's great Jack - hope it wasn't too painful!

I'll be sending the route off over the next day or two to Paul, so hopefully it will be available for the general community within the next week.

On that section of track you mentioned south of Burnsfield. As you can see, I took a slow journey the other day and didn't find anything wrong, with exception to the crossover I believe was burnsfield #3 and #4. It was not in the shape of a cross, but rather a "u". Was that what you meant?

P.s. Note the flora and fona.....not bad Neil

Hey Jack

If you're questioning the height problem I was talking about by the road crossing at the south end of Burnfield, I've already fixed it so you shouldn't see it in the latest version that you have.

As far as some of the crossovers, the "X" style crossovers were from the earliest routes and I never ended up changing them. I prefer the "U" shaped crossovers myself, as I feel they are more realistic.

Paul is setting up the website as we speak, and we'll be offering a very limited amount of downloads as a test to see the broadband requirements.
When it's ready, I'll contact the testers that have been so helpful over the last year, and offer them the first opportunities to download the final version from the new website.

That's where we stand right now.

I know, I know - I'm not trying to make excuses, but I wanted it to be as close to perfect as possible, so I spent many many many hours running and fixing, fixing and running, etc., along with a few other testers that have been extremely helpful in pushing me to make things even better.

I can say that the route is as close to being perfect as can be expected for something of this size. There are a few small issues, like height problems on some of the stations where passengers' feet seem to be embedded in the platform, but these are tough to spot, and are fairly insignificant in my humble opinion.

I know it's been a long time coming, but it's out of my hands now, and in the webmaster's capable grip.

Once again, I would like to thank everyone for their support, and I truly hope this route lives up to everyone's hopes and expectations!

But if it doesn't, hey - what do you want for free!!!! :D

I looked on the download station and saw that the GHOO has over 14000 downloads - and I got to thinking that if I charged $1.00 for the route, I could have paid a big chunk of my mortgage off!!!

But we pay too much for everything in this world, so my gift to all is this route - free of charge.

I only ask that y'all post some screenshots and keep this thread alive.

Thanks again

Neil, Fellow Trainzers

It is online and I have emailed Neil the info so he can start sharing the link with all that are interested. If all else fails just PM me and I will share the link also. Sorry for having to release it slowly this way but I don't want to swamp my ISP they get mad when that happens. I can hopefully support roughly 1000 downloads a month at first.
