it looks like an f7 and a baldwin shark put together ;)

Ugly....

This whole thread, with all the beautiful loco's, reminds me of a seemingly never ending conversation I was part of at a truck-stop. Over the course of an entire weekend the discussion at the restaurant counter was "what's the ugliest truck." It was already in full stride when I got there at 6 PM Friday night and still going strong when I left from breakfast at 10 AM Monday. The conclusion I came away with was; pretty or ugly doesn't change the cash flow.

Clean well maintained equipment is the only pretty. Conversely the only ugly is dirty shoddy under maintained equipment.

You know, it does look like a F7 mixed with a Shark. maybe there was some sort of Baldwin-EMD conspiracy lol. And while there are some really ugly trains on here they are still beautiful in an ugly sort of way, and i want them lol. I still want that squashed RS3 CN thing. It was awsome.

@ Blutorse4792 Is that some sort of half-arsed CF7 (F7 converted to look like a GP by cutting it apart. It was one of the biggest diesel conversions in America.)

This is the power unit of a Baltimore & Ohio Railroad streamliner. I don't think this is so bad. It resembles a doodlebug (gas-electric.)

However, the B&O eventually rebuilt it into something that looks like it hit a brick wall nose-first:

I have to agree with dietrichj...those don't look that bad. At least they are streamlined somewhat and still have the stainless steel on the side. I've seen worse.

GL going around Toronto if you don't want to ride in those...:hehe:

Artists conception however, although I think for *safety and security reasons* they would try to phase that out. I definitely know that the former is a good idea. I've been on a train that someone decided to commit suicide on by exiting the rear door at 140 kph...

where did this event occur? Whether or not that occured Toronto, the Gloucester's, M-1's, Hawkers and T-1's (even tho' they got uncomfortable seating) will be judged against this. I really like watching out the windows and making a cab like that is no good idea if you ask me...just my opinion.

This will be my last reply as I don't think we should waffle this thread anymore.

It happened to me on a VIA train heading to Montreal a few years ago. I was supposed to arrive at about 9 PM but ended up arriving around 2:30 AM.

If it makes you feel better, GO Transit's new mp36s 40s? ? aren't all that pretty either (they take some getting used to I guess). Efficiency is what new locomotives are all about (and rightfully so although aesthetics would do wonders).

BTW, blutorse, that train in that pic does look...unaesthetically pleasing. :hehe: Kind of like a cross between a F series, a sd70ace (as an example - without the front grill) and a F40/F59PH. :D

While browsing around a database of geared locomotives, I found this:

The strangest thing is it's not an inclined locomotive.

Cheerio,
