ugly trains

I think most uk modern trains built after the 70s are ugly like the pendolinoes for example (excuse the bad spelling) Class 180s the Class 43s lights. I also think the Class 20 was ugly but in a beautiful way if you get what I mean.

It's been so long sense I had a fresh install without extra content that I can't really remember what's built in anymore. But like bigfitzy said,
it IS downloadable from the DLS.
It's made for TRS2004. Just type in U50C.

Strange-looking trains

I know a few! The Neilson Box Tank, built at...where is it?...Oh I don't know...in 1856 and the "Coffee Pot". See it for yourself: It's in the second pic at:

I also think the Talyllyn Railway's Talyllyn and Dolgoch looked strange cabless. I never saw them, but I did see Skarloey and Rheneas cabless in Very Old Engines and the illustrators were accurate (as I read somewhere) so their depictions are probably correct. :D I wish they'd make a cabless Skarloey, Talyllyn, Dolgoch and Rheneas for Trainz.:)

It looks Australian to me.

As for me, I never liked any engine that looked "Fat." i.e: A steam loco with a boiler that looks too big for it's frame.

PRR's E6 is a good example.

Big_b, that locomotive looks like a "pusher" type. Used to move stuff around on docks without actually coupling to the cars. Could just be a variant of a mine locomotive also though.

I think this one takes the cake:

It's a homebuilt loco.

25ton 0-6-0 8cyl diesel Baldwin mine loco flangless centre wheels for really tight turns about 8mtrs long 2 high & 2 wide usually pulled about 200 - 400 ton the cab was raised for Zig Zag.

I think the second ugliest locomotive is a British locomotive made by British rail numbered D5713.

Sorry that I couldn't find a real or bigger picture but: http://www.modelfair.com/acatalog/du100152.jpg

But it is a rare locomotive. and so I couldn't find much information on it.

Another ugly locomotive is a bullet train http://farm1.static.flickr.com/49/142758482_09aab074b4.jpg

I mean it has a chin.

That "bullet train" doesn't even look like a bullet:

No comparison.:D

Yeah. That bullet doesn't have a chin.:) I think that the train that I designed was more like the bullet only square.

You know what they should call it. The car train because the chin looks as if it was the bonnet from a car.

Hardly. The Class 20s , 15s and 17s were designed by industrial designers specifically to give them an attractive external appearance.Although the Metrovick Co-Bos (D5713) are generally regarded as ugly, they are no worse than a Class 24 or any of the modern classes such as Class 66.Sole surviving Co-Bo D5705 was voted "The star of the show" when it appeared at the Crewe Open Day a couple of years ago.

EMD did that quite a lot to the early diesels. Like they'd use parts off other locos to make a "new" class. They even re-engined RS-3s.

It looks to me like they used the long hood off a GP9 and a short hood from something else.

Speaking ill of the 700 series! That looks like the new version, too.
Bullet train (Dangan Ressha) refers to the speed, not the shape. It was intended to travel from Tokyo to Osaka with the speed of a bullet, arriving in six hours or less with the fastest steam engines Japan had ever built.
Then the war got in the way, then occupation and reconstruction; it got pushed back almost 30 years before they managed to build it.
Now for ugly, please "enjoy" these pictures of the Talgo 350.

The Katy Beep is pure Baldwin except for the long hood and power plant. NKP also had a pair, and two more Bldwins with Alco RS-11 hoods and engines.

hmm beeps are pretty sexy IMO. first time that i saw one. i like the conversions that happened to many EMDs. Especially the CF7s.
