Hello CSX6227,
As Johnk has mentioned you will likely be unable find a passenger car specific tutorial. I have managed to piece a set of passenger cars together using a mix of tutorials. Once you master the tutorials they can be applied to any type of equipment really.
The target platform could be a problem however. The passenger equipment I created use alpha channels to produce the transparency and work amazingly well in 2004, 2006 and TC but did not look good in 2009 with out modification and I have not had time to work further on them - likely won't bother porting to 09 as I am seriously thinking of going back to TC3. I think the solution to my problem lay hidden in the Trainzdev web site and the trainz wiki but I find both resources to cumbersome to use.
Try the following tutorials to get started - they are found on Phil Campbell's World of Trainz web site at
http://www.worldoftrainz.com
- Flat Car Tutorial - Simple example to help get an actual piece of equipment into the game
- Locomotive Tutorial - A simple diesel loco which introduces windows
- Locomotive Interior - A simple interior easily modified for any other interior
- Illuminosity Transparency Tutorial - contains windows and backlight technics
- Alpha Number - Technics to change the running numbers on your equipment
For some additional excellent tutorials try Paul Hobbs incredible tutorials at
http://www.44090digitalmodels.co.uk/. Paul has tutorials for both Gmax and Blender and I personally feel they are supurb. After working in Gmax and moving to 3dsMax I was unable to work with blender at all until I tried Paul's tutorials. Now I wish I had saved the $5k I spent on 3dsmax!
Have fun, enjoy, relax! Content creation is extremely difficult but probably the most rewarding aspect of Trainz
