TUME’s Simulation of “The Milwaukee Road”

Excellent job!

@ RR MODS:

Thank you for your compliment.
If you have a look one page back (45) you could see what I created by using the open hopper mesh and texture which I purchased from you website. I hope there will be a solution to get season change onto the open-hopper-loads as well :-)

@ all:

Hallo,

Below you see some screens from my new boxcar set. The assets supports animated break hose, running numbers, animated doors, season change, LOD and mesh library technique and can handle several different loads.
The cars have been lined up at the siding at Mullan, Id which is part of my seasonal Milwaukee Road Avery-Drexel-Route.

Hallo,

here comes some new seasonal trailer loads for my seasonal flatcars. This time I created 41ft trailers. These “fills” the 50ft flatcars a bit better than the 35ft trailers does :-)

I am still hoping that 261 will soon be released :Y:

It will come along including season change as well. I will continue working at it as soon as I finished the seasonal Avery-Drexel-Update. And this is not too far away.
As you can see I am already working at the seasonal freight cars. I just will need to create a seasonal tank car and a caboose.
After that I have to create seasonal updates of my SD40-2, the GP9, the Boxcab and the Joe.
If this has been done I need to create some sessions as well. There will be sessions in different seasons at the MILW as well as at the NP lines.
Eventually the whole bundle needs to be released.
After that I will take care of the 4-8-4 until its finished :-)

A fun thought, maybe some seasonal icicle attachments? XD Can't get much better than that! Great work as always!

Hallo,

I considered Icicles from my first seasonal asset up to now. Most of the roofs have been equipped with planes wearing alpha blended texture to create the Icicles. It is very nice to see that people likes it :-)
I also thought about the possibility to create icicles at catenary and telegraph wires and poles. But I eventually did not. The reason is that such icicles at spline assets would create repetition effect which would look terrible. The only possibility to solve such a repetition problem would be to create a lot of these splines (maybe five) – each with different looking icicles. Considering that I needed to create about 50 or more catenary spline assets to meet all requirements so far, about 50x5=250 different catenary assets would have been necessary to handle the icicles as well – without repetition. Eventually I decided not to go for that because of time optimization.

Hallo,

here comes the latest screens about some new trailer loads. The screens have been captured at the western end of the parallel tracks at Avery, Id. Within these trailers loads the work about my set of flatcars came close to be finished. Besides season change the trailers supports two steps of LOD. After that a set of seasonal tank cars and a set of seasonal MILW-cabooses needs to be done before I will move forward to take care of the locomotives.

If anybody wants to see some special loads for these flatcars beside the commodity I already have created (please see the pages backward) please don’t hesitate to let me know. The only restriction at the moment is that I would like to maintain the time period from about 1965 to 1972. Also the load should not be too complicated as I only plan one more week of time to work on such extra stuff. But I am free for suggestions – especially if it comes along with links to some pictures of the real thing so that I know what I will have to create and that I may work out texture from it :-)

Hallo,

special thanks goes to James Moody who provided some help to get season change functionality working at these open hopper car loads.
Now the hoppers can load several different loads as any other hoppers can as well. Here the cars have been filled up to the maximum load
but it can take loads from zero to max as any other hopper does.
The new thing is that now the load appears in a snowy look when the snow line in the environmental settings in surveyor has been set to "0".

Also I could improve the snowy appearance of my seasonal bogeys.

Hallo,

here the latest results of my freight car and bogey creation.
I plan to create some more tank car versions.
The bogeys still needs the breaks attached to it.

If I make my scenery Volkswagen Beetle seasonal, will you include it in your fantastic route? :p

Kieran.

Hallo Kieran,

thats a very nice idea!!!

As you can see I already created several seasonal road cars. There is just a set of dodges and fords representing the time of the late 50's and the middle of the 60's. Also I created some versions of the Volkswagen T1.

There is no seasonal Volkswagen Beetle available jet and it would be great to place such an asset at several carp arks all over the route. Also such a car as a product would be interesting.

Again - thats a very nice idea :-)
Have a nice day.

TUME! Your railcars are looking amazing! Thank you so much!

Kieran! What a wonderful idea! Hopefully other content creators will jump on the bandwagon!

Hi Tume,

Glad you like the idea.

Unfortunately, the scenery asset only comes in one livery at the moment and that's Herbie the Love Bug. :)

I'm more than happy to whip up some more colours, or maybe have the one asset choose between different colours?

There's already a product version too. I can probably make that seasonal too. :)

I am currently in the process of updating the models to cut down on polys a bit and improve their smoothing, so any additional features I can add will be added. :)

I'll give it a try this weekend and see if I can get anything working.

The Beetle is a '63 and as such would suit 1957 to 1967 as there were only a few small changes between models from those years. The basic design of the car remained unchanged. The most notable changes before and after those dates were the numpers and windows.

You can view an image of the product version here: http://captainkman.deviantart.com/a...64776310?q=gallery:CaptainKman/40605877&qo=57

Again, thank you for supporting the idea. :)

Kieran.

P.S. How's the Bi-Polar locomotive going? :)
