Tumbler Ridge Project

Trainz is just a nightmare to work with. Getting this thing into the slowest program on earth is just awful.

My only real complaint with Trainz is its slowness/lagging, even on high-end computers. Hopefully TANE will improve that once the final is out...

Awesome looking locos - great job!!

Well here are a few shots I took testing out the grade from the bullmoose mine.

Now I can finally share that good/bad news with you guys. Surely by now you've heard of the new sim being developed. Now since I want the best possible for this whole route project, it's very likely that I'll be restarting my route progress on the new sim. Reason? Well the world building tools of UE4 are incredible and with that engine you can achieve some very very nice draw distances and a whole bunch of other incredible features planned. It's also possible to cover larger areas much more efficiently than with what is possible in trainz. I still plan to release some content that was made for this route for trainz, but not the route itself since it's very far from done (unless later down the line somebody wants to mess with the progress i had, i will release the route for free)

Finally got around to finishing up this Catenary junction mesh. Not only this, but the weighted sections as well. It's hard to explain how the whole system works, but once you figure it out it's pretty ingenious.

Now I've run into a real issue. How on earth am i going to get this work in trainz in a practical way?

Those catenaries look really really good. I mean really, everything pictured here looks amazing. Shame to hear the route won't be completed, but I would absolutely love to see what is completed released in some way. It all looks simply beautiful.

Cheers,
SM

Caboose is almost ready for release, first gondola skin was finalized, time to finish the rest.

This is the track leaving the Quintette loadout.

I was sad to hear about your choice to switch out of trainz for this, but excited for the other stuff to come out! Did you plan on releasing the route as is?

Have to say that those shots are absolutely breathtaking. Makes me wish I could grab a picnic blanket, some goodies and just watch the trains go by (maybe on a sunnier day). Thanks for sharing them with us!

It's something i'm still thinking about at the moment

If only time machines could exist already :p

Well i caved in and decided to try and get this route ready for TANE. I figured i could give it a shot. This meant replacing all of pofig's trees. Sad, however the replacement does not look bad at all in my opinion. I kinda want some second thoughts on how this looks. *these shots are in TS12*

Looks really good, actually. If only Pofig's trees worked in TANE!

Those gondolas look really good, also!

Cheers,

Those are nice shots ATSF854. I am curious, why won't Pofig's trees work in TANE? If they don't work, then that would mean that Treez from Trainz 2009 along with Speedtrees from Trainz 2010 and 12 won't work in TANE?

With the rare exception, this seems to be the case in CE. But Mcquirel (UltraScenery) is working on Speedtree 6 now, which is T:ANE compatible.:D

The issue with the speed trees has to do with T:ANE requiring newer versions of them. This means all speed trees would have to be updated. Last I heard Pofig was reticent to do this. McGuriel otoh has done all but just short of committing to it, she has the license for the newer program to update/make new ones, but IIRC she tends to be rather busy, so I wouldn't hold my breath for their release, though theres a good chance they will eventually come down the pipeline. I think she's working on new trees altogether though tbh.... Not sure though.

Looks pretty good to me, too. The only complaint I would make is that in the last picture, (with the gondolas) all those evergreens that only have foliage at the top look really rather odd standing relatively isolated like that. I thought that was something you only got in forests because the lower branches couldn't get enough light? Of course, I could easily be wrong, I'm certainly no expert ... :)
