Ts2010EE on schedule ?

I have only been doing train sim stuff for about 8 months now. I do not have the experience that most of you seem to have. I do find that a lot of you seem quite upset about the delay in release of TS2010EE. I agree with comments from both sides of the argument. I think that the developers should get it right before it comes out regardless of how long it takes. Think about other products in life that if sold half finished, what a disaster that would be. On the other hand I don't think it is right that Auran offered a pre order date and has gone way beyond that. I think if it were not for having paid already most people would be quiet and wait. I have pre paiid for my copy some time ago. Generaly when you lay down the cash direct exchange or a true promise of delivery is what takes place. Perhaps this type of product should not have a pre pay pre order service. Maybe a pre register waiting list for faster download access or something would work. Anyway let us see what the next 48hrs brings and hopefully we can receive the goods we have paid for. Thanks

Yes I do agee that there is room for improvement.

I also believe that in the area of consumer train sims the Trainz franchise shows up pretty well.

MSTS - abandoned by Microsoft after release.
MSTS2 - abandoned by Microsoft twice, before release.
TMTS - consumer version abandoned by P.I. Engineering before release.
Rail Simulator - original release spilt into two versions to avoid further delay.
Railworks - good train driving simulator, however limited traction supplemented by costly payware from developer.

I agree that people should not be insulted for having a different opinion. Perhaps you mean 'fanbois' and how they make you sick to be a compliment?

The term "fanbois" has become something of an insult on the internet, usually on Mac forums or when talking about Mac owners, but I see it has spread to become a term used to describe anyone whose opinion differs from yours. If you want your thoughts to be taken seriously, please leave the insults and name-calling out of them. Debate is much more fun that way.

I have the feeling they are going to release the download and boxed version at the same time. Just hope this delay hasn't caused too much setbacks for people who ordered the box version because iam hoping to get it before Christmas.

I figured maybe an an explanation of what the brick wall of 32-bit systems is. (In case I missed a post explaning it, I'm sorry for the repitition)

You can think of the memory in your computer as a long measuring tape with each byte marked on it. Each byte in effect has an address. On 32 bit machines the largest addressable address in memory is 2 to the 32nd power bytes. This is 4Gb. This is how much memory a 32-bit operating system will be able to address. Windows XP reserves 1Gb for system functions, so that leaves 3GB for the running programs. These 3 GB are yet again split up between the memory of the graphics card and the programs. If I recall correctly, Windows XP even has a limit of 2GB of memory per running program.

Problems arise then when large layouts try to load more data than 2 GB into memory. The operating system will tell the program "Sorry, you're out of memory" and in many cases that is unable to continue running the program.

64 bit systems can on the other hand address 17.179.869.184 GB of memory, so it will take a few years still before we need to talk about the limits of that.

Just an update. My order history page for TS2010EE now says release date Dec. 01, 2009 (01/12/2009).

My order history page now has the download links for TS2010EE. There appear to be five files to download. It shows the files were last updated the 30th Nov 2009.

Off to start the downloads.
