Ts2010EE on schedule ?

I've just found this while online...

Microsoft to release Windows 7 in Europe without Internet Explorer.....

Joe Airtime
That is old news. The next idea was that when you installed Windows 7 there would be a choice of browsers.

In practice we have the same version as everybody else and I am typing this in IE8 not having been given any option when installing Windows 7. No doubt the saga of the EU versus Microsoft will continue

I have been on Windows 7 since the RC release, and to be honest, its the best thing I ever did to my PC, 13 seconds to get from pushing the start button to my desktop? Only have had one crash in the last 3 months and that was because my sound card shorted out, as it was not seated properly in the PCI slot.

Only came across one program that does not work but placed it in XP compatible mode and it works fine. XP Virtual mode also works a dream form my VPN client.

You don't know what your missing till you try it out, do not rely on others comments to make your own judgements.

Thank you to teddytoot and to chefbyte for your valuable time in helping me understand how Windows 7 works, just wondering though, Can Windows 7 work without an internet connection.?.

Thank you once again for your valuable help...

Yes Windows 7 can be used without an internet connection. It has to be activated by phone though. The only other thing requiring the internet is updating it. However as most of the updates relate to security, if you are not on the internet, it should not have much effect.
Regards Bruce
Just a thought, how come you are posting on here if you have no internet??

Thanks Bruce,

You have sold me Windows 7, I was hearing all horror story's about it being unstable and it can't run without the internet, the people who were telling me all this, work in I.T, I thought they can't be wrong, they work with computers everyday...

Most freinds on this forum have said Windows 7 is far better than XP and is stable and they have had less problems with it, so I am going to go with your advice, and with the advice of the Trainz forum, If you guys haven't had a problem with Windows 7, then surely I shouldn't have much difficulty either...

Once again, Thank you Bruce and to all who have helped me make up my mind, Windows 7 is the way forward...

By the way, the computer I am on is downstairs on the ground floor and has internet connection, however my trainz computer is three floors up, and to get internet connection through three floors is highly expensive, especially when the houses are due for demolition in 5 years time, hope this explains why I need an o/s without internet connection.

All, is revealed,-- just me being nosey!!

I frequently disable my wireless connection to the internet, whilst I am working with Trainz or Flight simulator. Often I forget to re-connect until I need to go online. Sometimes for quite a while (it's an age thing!!) never once has windows 7 shown any distress at being cut off from the world.

It's OK, I should have explained in more detail, why I wanted Windows 7 without internet connection, as long as windows 7 works, that'll do me just fine...

Many thanks again Bruce for your help...

I do not think that the 24th is in stone or really reliable. Last week we had a similar scenario. At first one day and then a week push back. The only thing i see is that they hope that a game can be released on tuesday.

If someone from Auran finds the time to read these posts, not likely with all that is going on!, I wish to say that most of us are grateful for the work you are doing. It looks as if you are working through a second weekend, don't over do it just to give us the d/load a few days earlier. We appreciate that there are not many of you to do this since the staff cuts,
many thanks for your efforts, John.

I'd echo that - I would far ratrher have Trainz that works nicely than one that jerks, stutters, freezes or simply misbehaves just because it has been rushed! I have pre-ordered TRS2010, but it's a Christmas present from my loved ones so any download will have a "do not install before December 24th and do not play until Christmas Day" rider attached!

(I might be allowed a sneak preview though! ;) )

Ive pushed the release date back to tuesday in order to stop it automatically going live in our system. I am currently awaiting more info on where we stand from our dev team which I will post in the announcements section once i have it.

We also had a major power outage in the office over the weekend which resulted in us having to suspend work while that was fixed by the electricity company, as of this morning we are all back up and running again. (murphy's law at work it seems :) )

Don't want to hijack the thread or anything, but could someone from Auran confirm that any service packs will be released as separate downloads, and not just on an automatic update type system

I'm afraid that this is the number 1 pre-requisite for me.

Smiley.

I would like to second that request and combine it with an estimate for the release of the next SP for TS2009 if that is still going to be released of course.

Oh ye of little faith. Who says that 2010 will need any service packs.:D

Cheers, John
