Well, release date is still on for Monday (16th), let's hope there is no last minute hiccup!!! I am really looking forward to this, hopefully with the ECML from Kings X to York included as predicted. John.

I see that release date for d/load version has just been put back a day to the 17th!!! Let's hope this is the only delay!! John.

Yes, yesterday the release date was put back one day and if you read Spiffy's thread above you will find out why that is now a week's delay. John.

This time of year it is, leaves on the line. that makes trainz late. :D

? Trainz is a product of the Southern hemisphere.

Down here it is spring, and apparently what's making Trainz late is trying to shoe horn the winter spread into a those old size 32 thongs we were using last summer.

That would be thongs/jandals/flip flops for feet as opposed to thongs for women. It's a cultural thing. Haha.

Read it how you will :)

BTW, not sure if ist been posted elsewhere, but the following minimum specs for 2010 were announced in todays Trainz Newsletter. Read 'em and weep...

"We are also able to announce the minimum and recommended system for running TS2010:EE:

Minimum
Windows XP (SP3)
1GB RAM
Pentium D 3.4GHz (or equivalent)
nVidia Geforce 7200/128MB (or equivalent)
15GB Free Hard Drive Space

Recomended
Windows Vista/Windows 7 (64bit)
2GB RAM
Core 2 Duo (or equivalent)
nVidia Geforce 8600 (or equivalent)
15GB Free Hard Drive Space "

I seen the delay coming from miles away. Auran had to fall in line like the rest of the industry and delay. Lucky for us it was just a week! Everyone else was so scared of Modern Warfare 2 they leapt to 2010. :hehe:

I know for a fact Trainz wasn't delayed because of the most raved and fastest selling FPS but it is kinda funning knowing that the prediction that Auran can't even be inevitable to a delay around the MW2 release is entertaining to me.

Ah that's good, I'm up to date, except for Windows Vista, pile of trash and still very buggy, I'll stick with windows XP it's far more stable, as for windows 7, that's even worse, buggy and slow...

I don't care how long it takes to be released, as long as it works error free, so let Auran take there time, we don't want another problematic version of Trainz 2009...

The cause of the delay is due to the wrong type of snow...:D

You may want to have a think about your position on these Operating Systems. As with any product, MS's new releases have their upsides and downsides, but the whole "Windows Vista is rubbish" mentality is very similar to the "I'm sticking with TRS2004" mentality - if the old product still works for you then great, but you're throwing away the chance to access a lot of new features by ignoring the upgrade.

I'm no Microsoft fan, but I have to admit that (despite the initial teething problems with Vista) they've come a long way since XP. For old hardware, you should probably stick with XP - but when it comes time to upgrade, you'll find 7 a huge step forward. And you definitely should be looking at a 64-bit OS.

Thank you for the advice Chris,

I'm willing to try anything first time around, that's why I bought Trainz UTC, 2004, 2006, 2009, trainz Classics 3 UK and now on order Trainz 2010, however I've found Vista slows computer performance down as it clings onto the memory, as for Windows 7, I've heard it's still in early days of developement and still very buggy, once the bugs have been ironed out, then maybe I'll give it a go.

I want to move on from XP as I'm sick to death of having to phone a number, to get a code for XP to work, I just want to install and away I go, so maybe in the near future, Windows 7 maybe the one I'll go for, but I'll wait for the service pack to come out first...

Once again, Thank you Chris for your reply...

Windows7 does work well and is stable. Used for a week now and no crash. There are some new ways of doing things that are the usual unneeded desperate attempts to qualify for marketing fluff. I came from XP so the difference was more dramatic.

Just to toss in the usual - It does appear faster with a few more FPS. My unqualified opinion is that disk handling is improved. Bought it for $50 using pre-order special - Home Premium. It is a keeper - so far....
2.4ghz dual core, 2gb memory, 8600 256mb

I'm not a fan of MS, but I have to agree that Windows 7 is a big improvement over Vista and TS 2009 runs quite well with it.
I made the jump from XP Pro on a 32bit system to Vista on a 64bit system with a upgrade to Win 7. When I upgraded from Vista to Win 7 there was a definite difference in performance and an over whelming joy at the loss of "permission" windows. I also find Win 7 more visually appealing.
So hopefully I'm all set for TS2010EE when it arrives.

Two things I haven't been able to get a straight answer on: First, does Windows 7 offer an XP-style interface? The Vista interface is impossible to use. Fortunately, none of my clients or even my prospects use it, in part for that reason.

Also, does any version work without constantly having to phone home and reactivate itself periodically? If not then it's not eligible for use on secured machines, which will be a real problem for me and many clients.

I've just found this while online...

Microsoft to release Windows 7 in Europe without Internet Explorer

Visit the site here,

http://www.betanews.com/article/Mic...n-Europe-without-Internet-Explorer/1244753875

Visiting other websites I think the above relates to Windows 7 Home Edition, and there is two types, 32 bit and 64 bit, don't quote me as I am not too sure, need someone else to confirm this...

Hope this helps
