TRS 2009 at retail

In french only

Here in Quebec as of April 2009 all video games, that goes on sale on store shelves must be in french or bilingual french/english. Meaning english only games are now illegal for sale in stores. Auran will have to send the french version for the Quebec market.

Hi Zod
A quick check in the options list in TS2009 (international edition, build 38599, started from the digital download) shows that it has a 'French' language option. As to how good the translations are, thats another question... As I don't know much French, I can't comment on it. None of the sessions will translate their in-game 'messages', but the game itself is multi-lingual for the international digital download version.

That's Quebec for you. I'd get the normal version from Auran download, just remember to declare it for PST and GST when you fill the tax forms in at the end of the year.

Certain layouts are created by other than francophones or anglophones these are in the language of the creator and I don't think they are all available in English never mind French.

Trainz does have a French language option and there is a dedicated French language forum here at Auran. It may not be the French used in Quebec being probably more French french as opposed to the version of the language spoken in Quebec.

A good reason to buy direct from Auran. No need to let the language police tell you what to buy. :o

Retail sale TRS 2010

The US retail release will be available this April. But will it be found in retail stores here in Canada, let alone Quebec? The last one I saw, on the shelves, was TRS 2006 4 years ago:confused:

UK purchasers have the option of ordering the downloadable version of TS2010 from Just Trains and that has a lower cost. I don't know if it's exactly the same as the Auran edition, nor whether the same service pack updates are available for it.

John
(Neither I nor the Razorback Railway have any connection with Just Trains, except that I purchased their editions of TRS2004 and TRS2006.)

Same title different publisher?

Looking for Trainz Simulator 2010 on EbGames web site there's no mention of any Trainz product available. Yet there's Ship Simulator 2006 under the title of Ship Simulator published and developed by Dreamcatcher. The box is different then the one published by Auran but some of the screenshots are the same on both web sites. Is TS 2010, for the US market, will be published by Auran or by an other publisher?:o

Electronic retail only?

Haven't found a single copy in any store. Looks likes it's can only be bought via Auran's web site

When you think about it, it's better that way. Cuts out the middle man and gives Auran better support. Plus you get a guaranteed never-been-used copy that you can register. Several times we have heard here of people who bought what they thought was an unopened box only to find it had been registered and returned to the store where it was repackaged as new. Then the next buyer couldn't register it with all the problems that that entails.
