Tree Problem's.

Steam Nut
I tried downloading Jointed Rails "Reading and Northern" and putting it into T:ANE. it was all going so well till I opened up the route and was greeted by the moon with some roads and tracks on it. All of pofig's foliage is giving the error - Unsupported SpeedTree version for mesh: kstt2m.srt -. Is there anyway to fix this?

You can replace the trees with others such as those by RMM.

Here's a chart that might help with your replacements:

Gr - grass
K, Ks, Kt - "куст" - "bush"
B - "берёза" - "birch"
Db - "дуб" - "oak-tree"
D - "дерево" - "tree"
E, El - "ель" - "fir-tree"
S - "сосна" - "pine tree"
Kl - "клён" - "maple"
T - "туя" - "thuja"

subname d - "дальнее" - "for using in background"

The difference is RMM spells out the names and Pofig used initials. As you go through the trees, you'll eventually have them memorized.

Here's RMM's trees with thanks to Roy Joosten and Deane for putting this together.

Like all the Pofig'd routes, the route needs to be brought up in TS12, in this case, and trees substituted. I use the Auran speedtrees they are ugly and easy to find.

Then the route is brought into T:ANE and re-tree'd.

I use mcguirel's deciduous freeware T:ANE speedtrees for the majority because they seem more North American. st-rmm has some really good conifers, bushes and smaller odd trees.

Usually takes about an hour, a half hour for each tree session.

As far as types, I never worry about that. Nature is random and what ever you do will look right.

This would be great, if I had Trainz 12.

As far as replacing them, is there a way to do it without diving into the confusing and time consuming mess that is CM?

Use the search and replace function in Surveyor. I can't remember if it's there in TRS2006 though.

If it is do the following.

Go into CM first and get a list of dependencies of your route.
Sort the dependencies by author.
Scroll down until you see Pofig
Highlight all those Pofig assets and drag those to the pick list.

Close CM
Open up Trainz Surveyor
Go to a blank spot on your route. I added in a totally blank baseboard on one route.
Open up the filter and the Pofig trees will appear in the pick list in the bottom half.
Click on one of them.

This will open up the Surveyor assets with this Pofig tree highlighted.
Open up the Replace Assets utility from the main menu
Drag this into the asset to be replaced spot.
Find an asset you want to replace it with and put that in the other spot.
Click replace and get a coke, coffee, or take a nap, depending upon how many of these trees of this type you need to replace.

Save, repeat with the next one, and so on.

I was able to replace 4,196 trees on one route in about 2 days.

JCitron, again, this would be nice, but I cant use TRS2006, either. it never worked right for me and it flat out refuse's to install on my new computer. The only time I got it to "install" 3/4th of the game was missing and I couldn't even get it to boot up. I've only got TANE to work with. :'(

For Personal Use Only if you do this DO NOT Distribute or upload to the DLS

Figured out how to convert the Pofig trees:

Open up the pofig asset in explorer

Open up the tree that works in T:ANE in explorer

Replace all the files of the pofig asset with the T:ANE asset that works.

Change the config.txt file mesh-table to the mesh-table from the working asset.

Change the kuid-table file

Remember to add a suffix like "mine" to the "username"

Used my regular asset as an example

tree_conversion2.jpg

This only has to be done once for each asset

Even easier if you use a mcguirel speedtree.

Just need to delete everything in the pofig folder.

Change the config.text and the thumbnail file
