Trainz Update Announcement (SP4)

This update seems to have broken the surveyor camera a little bit. Its become way too sensitive and the left and right movements snap instead of it being a gradual movement. Also holding down the up arrow key causes the camera to spin (I hope I explained that well)

So does that SD/HD option only apply to Trainz Plus or is it also in TRS22PE?
HD terrain only. While you can import HD routes into TRS22 PE Driver. You cannot edit them so the feature is not available. At this point I struggle to understand what it good for. It only works on HD terrain and it appears to me after some testing that it really just has the effect of limited the radius of the brush to 2m. Something that you can do now in S2 already by just changing the radius manually. I created new baseboards while it was active but they are still 0.125 resolution of HD terrain. I don't see that it changes the resolution of the baseboard at all. It just restricts the action of the brush to 2 meters. My thought is that if you could make a baseboard have 2m resolution then you could use the 0.125 resolution where needed for details like cuttings and ledges. But if you can do that now it escapes me.

At first I didn't really think about it but yeah. It is vastly different to how it was before.

I am also confused about the reason for using the SD setting instead of the HD setting. If i want the 2m width I just set the brush setting to 2. There must be something I am missing here.

My 22PE said no updates so I went down to the Update stream. It was set to TRS22 and the only other option was TRS22 beta. I did not select beta, but left it at TRS22. But after that it did pop up and say an update was available. I ran the update, after which I had a blank screen. After waiting awhile the launch window appeared. I was going to close it out and bring it back up to see if it wanted to do a DBR, so after closing the launch window I opened Task Mangler to see if the process was gone. Low and behold TRS22.exe was still running, slowly increasing memory usage. It is now at 8.4GB and still slowly climbing. I assume it is doing a DBR in the background? I don't want to do an end task and risk corrupting something, so I am just going to watch it in Task Mangler and see what happens...
EDIT: It climbed to about 9GB, then dropped to about 5.5GB, and then started climbing again. Up over 6GB now.
EDIT2: after 6.3GB it started to drop, and eventually disappeared from Task Mangler. I started Trainz22PE and all seems copacetic at build 126273.
EDIT3: well, it is taking well over 30 minutes to load "Select a Route". It did this before, so it may not be the update, but so far this has been waaaaaay slower than TRS19 or T:ANE.

Please double check your update streams.

If you are Trainz Plus (build 123794), you should use the Trainz Plus update stream to update to 126280

If you are using TRS22/TRS22 PE (build 123801), you should use the TRS22 update stream to update to 126273

To check your update stream, please do the following steps:
  1. Start Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 Launcher
  2. From the Trainz Launcher, open Train Settings
  3. Select the Install Tab
  4. Click on “Change Trainz update stream...”
  5. Click on next for Patch location
  6. Ensure correct MyTrainz account details are used and click on next
  7. Click on Change Stream...
  8. Select corresponding stream for your build
    • (TRS22 for Trainz Railroad Simulator 2022 & Platinum Edition, Trainz Plus stream for Trainz Plus)
  9. Click on Done
  10. On the Install Tab, now click on "Check for Trainz update"
we had done this. but on mine, is telling me a error on the patch being not viable.

G'day @n3v_laurence, is this part correct? Is the standard def resolution now down to 2M?

If so, that will allow for some nice improvements in detail for those of us who can't take real advantage of the HD resolution.

Unfortunately (for me) it seems that any HD routes I've downloaded are pretty much unplayable (veeeeeery slow to load and update when moving around) on my machine. :(

Cheers,
Piere.

The option was targeted for MPS use.

The option was to allow some level of HD edits to take place in MPS environment but improve performance and latency by adding a 2M restriction. The setting will not change any previously HD edits made.

As multiple people can work on a route in MPS at the same time, the finer detail edits can slow things down especially for lower end spec machines.

It can also be used in route creation, on lower end systems, to improve performance and route detail over the 5m grid, by allowing HD Terrain but restricting edits to 2m rather than the 0.125m offered by HD.
