Trainz Routes 2,3,4 - How to load ?

I purchase these three routes, but there was no instructions with the CDs of how to load them.

I Love Trainz but I am not very computer literate.

Can someone provide me with 'plain English'/step by step instructions on how to load these routes so I can get back to "playing trains".

In anticipation of favourable replies, Thanks....

Sorry, I am not really familiar with Trainz Routes 2, 3, or 4.

However, if you "Explore" the CD / DVD (I assume it's a CD or DVD), and there is a file labelled "setup.exe" or "install.exe" then double-click that and the installation process should begin.

If those files don't exist, but the files end in .cdp, double clicking on the file should start Trainz installing them for you. You don't indicate which version of Trainz you have - Trainz and TRS2004 will use "Content Dispatcher", TRS2006 will use "Content Manager".

In the event Trainz doesn't auto-install, then you will have to right-mouse-click one of the cdp files and select "Open With" - you will then have to tell your computer to use "Content Dispatcher" or "Content Manager" and tick the box "Always Use This Program For this File Type".

If you have TRS2006, you will need to go into Content Manager afterwards, in the "Search" box choose "Open For Editing" and click "Apply". When the files appear, Right Mouse Click, choose "Select All" then go to "Edit" menu and select "Commit". If you have Trainz or TRS2004, go to the Folder where Trainz is installed (By default c:\Program Files\Auran\Trainz or c:\Program Files\Auran\TRS2004) and open it. Look for a Folder named "Cache" and open that. Delete the files ending in .chump. When you start Trainz again, it will take longer to load as it rebuilds the chump files to, hopefully, include your new routes!

Sounds complicated I know, but it does become second nature after a while!

Hope you get it working!

Trainz Routes 2,3,4 Still can't Load

Additional to my origional thread, and following the instructions provided by members, STERRETT & GHOSTRYDER, I still have not been able to load these routes. This is what I've done and observed.......

1/ Disable anti virus program,
2/ Place CD into Drive, it auto-starts and a "Auran Patcher' window appears,
3/ I select "Complete Install" and the info seems to load showing the following information,
Begin Patching, patching assets.tdx, success, adding world DLS04.ja, patching finished.
4/ Remove CD and turn on anti virus.
5/ Open Trains, Open Manage Content, select search, select open for edit,
6/ The only thing that is displayed are a few sessions that I built earlier.
7/ If I click "apply", the same is displayed.

None of the 5 routes on the CD are displayed....

Have I missed something ?????

This sounds to me like the program has automatically committed them. Do they appear in surveyor?

in the morning i will pull out hte collection and run through the process to see if you have missed anything or i have missed anything .

I installed volumes 1 -4 just the other day - and almost made a mistake with the first one, namely not waiting for the second success statement.

Installation appears to stop, and you see that Success and you think it is over. Several minutes later there's a slight sound, and a second Success shows up, followed by Finished -- and then it is installed and committed.

I have a question, too, though -- this is a patch installation that involves not only the local file, but also at least the world file. I assume that this means that when and if I have to reinstall Trainz, I will have to reinstall these volumes as well - can't just substitute a backed-up copy of local. Is that correct? Even though it's a patch, the version and build number don't change.
