Are there any good Steam Train downloads for Trainz 12 yet? also im a newbie at downloading and installing trains to Trainz, can someone help tell me how to do it?

bdaneal's Subpar Propductions has lots of good locos. With most of his stuff, find a loco of interest and read the entire page. You can click on the loco to download that model itself, but there are other dependencies you might need like cabs which are mentioned and you will need to download those as well. You should just be able to double-click on the downloaded CDP files in order to start ContentManager, which should automatically import them. From there, if the locomotive doesn't show any Faults (red exclamation marks next to the item) then it should be ready to go.

I have the Baldwin Light 2-8-2 from the Standard Gauge (SG) pages; it's one of my favorites as there is a local scenic railroad running one, and Ben's model is quite accurate and fun to drive. I believe it installed without any issues and, although I am not 100% sure, I don't think it needed anything else.

Auran's Blue Comet is also a very, very good set of models, but it's payware.

I highly recommend downloading all of Ben Neal's steam engines, they are beauties and run great. also, check out the reskins on the DLS. there's a load by CincySouthernRwy there. they need the originals from subpar to work, but like i said, get them all anyway.

just to point out, he made a Norfolk and Western J-class 4-8-4 (unfortunately not 611:() that would go great with that route, and i still think they used his USRA 2-8-8-2 to build the Y6b (which was nothing but a souped-up USRA anyway...the USRA built the 2-8-8-2 off of the Y3). just some info.

Use the Content Manager to list all locos, then right click one and select download. The kuid will appear in the Download Helper panel and will download into TS2012. If you have File - Settings - Miscellaneous set to Automatically commit you don't have to do anything else except verify that CM doesn't show it to have any errors or missing dependencies.

2 Months ago I was new to downloading but it is quite easy now. I use Trainz Download Station on the internet. i you go and type in Trainz Download station and click the first site it would come up with a site with a black background. It would come up with a square which has text box there. type in your search e.g. C17. and press enter or search. and it would come up with a list of content. choose the one you wan't and double click it. then, go and press download page and then press Download (FTP). it will then load and will come up with a box, click open. And there you have it is downloaded. if it has a yellow puzzle peice and can't be used in trainz. That means that you will have to go and download the other stuff that is needed.

-Cheers

I can't find that option in Trainz 2012.:'(

The option in question does not exist in TS12. The 'yellow star' feature is though - it's at the top of the Routes page, and clicking to turn it off may reveal more routes.

As for previous Trainz content, this is available on the Download Station for TS12 users - use Content Manager to download it. The exception to this is TS2010 built-in routes and sessions.

Content Manager is too slow!:(

It will be if you haven't got a First Class Ticket if you are referring to downloads. This is the price that one pays for free access to the Download Station.

Please register a copy of Trainz Simulator here, and then someone will be able to help. Doing this will allow us to know what version your talking about, and so we know that you do not have a "illegal" copy of the game.

rofl....

really?! could at least helped the guy first before acting like a fool.

No. I'm not. Most people do that to unregistered users here on the Trainz Forums. It's because of the "sites" that hosts downloads for the game "illegally".

Chance - there have been proven cases on here of such activity. I always advise unregistered users to register their serial numbers as this is the only way it can be proven that they have a legitimate copy of the game.
