Whatever happened to Whatever?

As the name of the thread says... its the first post here I made for a long while.

So what's going with me? well... not a lot really aside from me not showing up often in the forums these days and my interests on Trainz has stalled out for the time being (until now as of writing this).

To add into what I said, I did get a new computer which happened to be a laptop but its specs is different from the previous laptop I use where I play Trainz on, mostly Trainz 12 back then.

For those who are wondering the new laptop I got is an ASUS A16, its specs while high-end (from what I can tell) is great for me running some games I play and it runs good on Trainz: A New Era, so far I'm slowly installing a few amounts of content for that version, I do have Trainz 12 installed but kept it there for when I need to do stuff in that version.

Outside of that, I mostly spend my time (at least train sim related) over at two different forums, lurking along with occasionally posting there, so that's all I can say, and happy new year? (I think I'm late on saying that.)

Thanks pware, I will see if I can roll in my interest in Trainz again. I'm currently running T:ANE as it will be my next main version with TS12 stepping down (but not completely).

With a lot of Trainz content stored in the previous laptop, I went through and hand-picking a few of them that I want to transfer over to the current laptop, this includes Reggie's Trainz Santa Fe Railway GP60s that I bought copies of consisting of the GP60, GP60M and GP60B around late 2021 prior to the site closing.

Here they are, but the ATSF GP60M and GP60B aren't present, I have them but haven't installed them yet.

The latest Trainz release is TRS22 but you may find it a bit "buggy" (the current SP release has a serious track bug). But T:ANE was also very buggy when it was first released - far far more buggy than TRS22 is - so you may consider going to the earlier TRS19PE which is quite stable. This is, the last time I looked, on sale in the Trainz Store at a greatly reduced price. TRS19PE (and later versions) has the very useful Unified Driver Surveyor feature which allows you to switch seamlessly both ways between Driver and Surveyor to fix scenery issues you notice while in Driver.

I will stick to T:ANE for the time being as I'm unsure on getting a copy of another Trainz version currently (it's budget constraints). In the meantime, I'm seeing what I can do with the stuff I have for Trainz.

You’ll be pleased to know that your name often comes up in conversations in these Forums. Sometimes I will post about a new creation or how I solved a modelling problem etc. and the response is often “Whatever…”.
Whenever someone says "Whatever", I will respond with "You rang?"

That feature is going to be useful for me in T:ANE although the feature in there isn't a 'true' UDS system because it said feature is more of a different quick drive consist system where you can you down a single locomotive or rolling stock or a consist just like in Surveyor mode.

But that's a feature I like because I edit properties on the locomotives and rolling stock while being in driver mode.

I guess I will write a "small" story about what I was doing elsewhere:

Somewhere in late 2023, I was already losing my interest in doing stuff involving Trainz, it was at the same time when I'm picking up interests for another train simulator, Open Rails after seeing some screenshots of that game being posted by someone by the name of Unoriginal. Prior to my regaining interest, I tried out Open Rails back a few years ago, somewhere in 2021 or 2022 but lost interest quickly.

After gaining my interest on trying out Open Rails again, I was slowly learning the ropes of the game's controls as its control layout is different from Trainz where I'm used to the control layout from it, along with learning OR I was given a helping hand in how to install and modify content for it. My experience with Open Rails is different from Trainz and I'm glad I got to finally trying out and playing Open Rails completely.

Given that Open Rails is a standalone train simulator program and some essential utilities for it aren't present (two being a consist editor and route editor), I went ahead and obtained TSRE for OR, currently using the TrainSim Fork Version, I mostly TSRE Consist Editor for making my own consists but I was interested in making activites for OR but I'm in the middle of nowhere in trying to make one.
