Trainz 12 basemaps

Hello everyone,

I am going round in circles trying to find the correct method of creating my own basemaps in Trainz12. Can someone please point me to the correct thread as all the methods are for previous versions of Trainz and don't work in Trainz12. I already have scans of map areas (720m x 720m) and they are waiting to be dropped into place. Its been a week now and I am begining to lose faith :-(

Any help will be gratefully accepted.

Allan

If you mount a piece of glass (from an old trashpicked coffee table, or other glass door furniture) you can trace a line right on your home made trashpicked glass PC screen protective glass screen, with a Sharpie or dry erase marker.

Avoiding all the muss & fuss

Come on ... It's all just virtual lines, drawn on a PC screen ... straights ... connected to curves ... connected to straights.

Allan,

Search for and download assets called "720x720m basemap1" through "720x720m basemap5" on the Download Station. Willem2 has given instructions in the descriptions on how to replace the built in textures with your own. If you need an application to convert *.bmp files to *.tga files, see PEV's free utility called "Images2TGA" at PEVSoft.

Hi Allan,

As Andrew stated the 720x720m basemaps are on the DLS kuids; kuid2:97008:7201:1, 7202, 7203, 7204, and 7205.

Cheers,

Bill.

I can't thank you enough RFAX, this is perfect. After a week of head scratching I finally saw my test basemap in Trainz12 - I can't tell you how relieved I was. Now All I need to do is master the rest of Trainz :-) BTW, this is a great step-bystep guide, just what I needed. Thankyou all for your help.

You're welcome. The credit goes to Cayden, though - I was just lucky enough to find his site a while back. I too think his tutorials are great. The combination of text explanation and screen videos really worked for me.
