Train Simulator 2013 - Railsim.

Hi All
Just a couple of notes. We are definitely continuing with development of Trainz, and have no plans to stop this any time soon!

However, right now, things are on hold due to the Christmas/New Year break. ;)

As to the other simulators in our store (Simulator Central), we are simply publishers/retailers for these, we are not the developers of them. Some may seem a little silly to some people, but there are those who enjoy them, same as railway simulators seem silly to a lot of other people (it should also be noted that the farm and ship simulators now have a fairly large community).

Regards

So the entire basis of this thread was based on BS, which is what I thought. It was just an opening to start one of these Railworks is better than Trainz rants that the RW people like to pull periodically. There will almost certainly be another thread just like this coming up shortly.

You should probably calm down or your going get banned.... Uhhh whenever you start quoting NV3 people and start ranting about what they say, you might as well put a target on your back

Bob, it's great we have a confirmation from Zec. Who are these RW people you rant about? Me? I know nothing about RW, I was curious as to if others had delved into it, that's all. Then the rest flowed from there. The question was innocent in itself, and was borne out of reviews and threads on other forums. Where better to ask for a confirmation or opinion other than here? You have issues that this forum will never fix. Just because someones, opinion, someone's post or someones information does not sit right with you does not give you the right to lambaste them, accuse them of gossip mongering, or whatever your state of mind feels like throwing out there. It's a good job they don't allow guns in here or I would be dead by now. Try some cannabis, a Xanax or a pint of sweet ale, breathe in and relax, life is good!

Yep. A poster has a year of experience (or even a month or two) should have known better.

Well, shirrrt, I'm alive now because I had a gun when I needed it, but I guess that's another subject...

Advocating illegal activity, however, might be a violation of the CoC.

lol all so serious! RRSignal, scroll back and read Zec's mail there buddy. NV3 don't consider us rail simmers any more important than the street cleaner simmers. We are just another silly anorak market to be appeased. " Should have known better" now that is the scary bit, someone show me the door to the non - conformist forum section, I must take 40 lashes!

Yeah, I read Zec's post, and despite your hippy-dippie crackpot conspiracy theories, he demonstrated you were WRONG. W-R-O-N-G!

They took Christmas break. OOOOOOhhh!!!!

"Well it would depend... Have you driven a real train?"

Seriously? That's a joke, right? It's not intuitively obvious that dragging 10 loaded hoppers up a 2% grade is going to require more tractive effort than 10 empty cars? It's not intuitively obvious that it's going to require different handling because of the difference in weight? It's not intuitively obvious that coupling onto 30 cars is going to drastically change the way the loco responds? I'm beginning to understand why they made DCC mode in the first place.

Conspiracy theories?????? I think that's stretching it a bit even for you. I merely repeated what I read elsewhere in a mire of posts on other sites. I was wrong it seems for now, development is on hold, I guess they were working on the lawnmower release to compliment the farm and urban garden sim. I wonder could the lawnmower sim be a conspiracy theory too? I guess so, I could be wrong though, and that would be another flaming thread soon.

Oh and I was never a hippie, and from what American News stations show here in Europe, all the crackpots are homegrown Sir! Yikes, lash me again, another conspiracy theory!

As someone once said, "You can't fix stupid".

You know how a browser works? All browsers have a function called "history". It allows you to look back at where you were on the net, and if you are telling the truth and not just trying to blow smoke up you know where, you should be able to find links to these topics about N3V and the demise of Trainz that you claim you read, and post the links so we can all read them . So far, you don't seem to be able to do that, so frankly, I think you just imagined it all.

I would kill for RailSimulator's track tools and turnouts in Trainz.*
As for the been there. done that crowd. I've had actual stick time in a REAL T-38, REAL F-15, flown 3 missed approaches in a REAL KC-135 right seat along with simulator time in all, including an A-10. Can't count the real life in air refuels I've done. Doesn't make me qualified on any of them. I don't think my limited experiences qualify me for anything.*
On the train front, I can assure each and everyone of you I've never operated the real thing. I can only go by what I "think" that is all about given the information provided to my recliner. A healthy discussion of train simulators should be encouraged. I'll never buy another iteration of Trainz until they do something, anything, about the track and splined turnouts. I'll never buy RW until they do something, anything, about the AI. I would even give into Steam and my hatred of it if it had half the "intelligence" of Trainz and never look back.
Customer feedback should be important to a company, positive or negative. Users claim loyalty, company eyes profits
Oh, and if you want the best flight sim out there, Falcon 4.0. The incarnation of it gave flight physics a pass for graphics. Many F-16 pilots I know still run it to prep for real world simulator qualifications in multi million dollar simulators. One told me if you can fly that, you can fly the real thing outside of combat. He's a pilot out of the Back Snakes in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.

Ron White. We should make a rule, if you drive in DCC mode you shouldn't talk about Trainz physics because you don't have a clue, if you don't understand that railroad cars are really really really heavy you shouldn't talk about physics for any trainsim. When it comes to mass times velocity and objects in motion and force required to overcome inertia and friction, take my word for it railworks don't have it. For me controlling heavy mass is the whole point of a train simulator, ergo railworks is not a train simulator because it doesn't simulate that.

Well Bob whatever works for you. I read that development had stalled due to other interests, as is the case in many games / sims on sites everyday, some are true some are not. Zec did confirm development was on hold, so that may have leaked out to rival sites and went from there, whether it is Christmas break related or not - it's no biggie really, sims evolve, some become discontinued like Microsoft Flight Simulator, which I own every single release of. The troubling thing is how much abuse a person is left open to by asking an innocent question, some seriously screwed up people in this forum - the content of some of the pm's I received are quiet shocking to be honest, and these are from supposedly grown men of sound mind and good standing. If I was a teenager and received that kind of crap it would be a sad reflection on some members here.

When I first got Trainz, I tried the DCC mode, and it reminded me of the way my Lionel Trains 027 ran. Pull the throttle to off ( or whatever they called it on the Lionel transformer) and the train would stop instantly. DCC mode in Trainz does the same thing in my opinion, totally unrealistic unless you want to pretend your driving a set of HO trains. Now switch to Cab mode, and you have to start worrying about slowing down to 1/2 speed with a yellow signal coming up, because you might have to stop at the following red, or risk a collision with an AI train coming in the opposite direction. I can remember one time I was trying to climb a steep 3.5% grade with a 25 car consist, and the train stalled. I had to uncouple 5 cars, and then I could make the grade. If I was in DCC mode, it probably would have sailed up the hill with zero problem. So the physics in DCC mode, are not meant to be real, they are to enable someone that doesn't really want to learn how to drive a train, to drive one. RW seems to work in a similar manner.

First of all, in the business world, everything is on hold, it's the holidays, that's just common sense. When I quote something in a forum, I usually post the link referencing what I am discussing, so folks can read for themselves where I got the information from. Otherwise, people can just make up stuff, which of course is the norm for some on the internet, and count on the people reading it to believe it as if it was fact. If I post that I read something, start a thread about it, and someone says " Where did you read that, I want to see a link", I would immediately post the link. If i couldn't remember where I read it because somehow my browser history ate itself, I would Google the topic and find the link to what I was quoting. I don't see either one of these things happening here. In fact, I just Googled the topic now, and guess what?????? The only thing I could find is this thread............... :mop:

That was a running argument with the Railism/Railworks developers and fanboys for several years, if you start with realistic physics you can dumb them down for casual players, but start with dumb and there's no way to smarten it up. They didn't wanna hear it, have a run and take some screenshots. FYI I was a licensed pilot back in the 70s/80s, and got some throttle time in a GP7 back in the late 60s, so I know what trains, planes, and helicopters are supposed to feel like.
