Train Simulator 2013 - Railsim.

I guess the thing that separates other Rail Sim developers from Simulator Central is that they are concentrating on rail sim, not tractor sim, police car sim, my favorite truck sim and and the up and coming, highly anticipated lawnmower sim! Can't wait to see what you can do with a ride on lawnmower! Riveting stuff. The mind boggles at the kind of addons you can download for your favorite lawnmower, re-skinned in your favorite brand.

Humor to finish just humor, so hold back on the hate mail.

Lots hugs and kisses all round.

Two disagreements with captainkman;
1. The Railworks world editor was easy to learn, the tracklaying tools were intuitive and versatile. If the Railworks world editor could make coffee I would marry it. After two years of Trainz surveyor I have learned to work around the quirks of the tracklaying tool but I can't love it.

2. Physics in Railworks might seem "great" to someone who expects a train to accelerate and stop like a sportscar, but anyone who has even a rudimentary understanding of how complicated it is to control the mass and momentum of a real train would NOT define RW physics as "great". I do agree the graphics are great though.

Just want to Apologise to Clancy for my somewhat blunt post, could have worded it a lot better I'm afraid.

Don't forget the amazing and exciting Street Cleaning Simulator!

Heavily praised for it's "badly animated pedestrians" and it's "mind numbingly boring gameplay" Street Cleaning Simulator is for you if you like sucking up trash from gutters! ACTUAL QUOTE FROM GAMESPOT (!):
After a mission or two, you inevitably give up on waiting at red lights only to cut through traffic, as well as drive through scenery and pedestrians, to provide the shortest time possible between the mission start and the slow, boring task ahead.
Some user feedback:
My view on life changed after playing this masterpiece

Thanks to Street Cleaner Simulator Ive never been more happier
Now with an equally riveting sequel Utility Vehichle Simulator!

Clam, thanks, I also extend apologies. It would nice to see them concentrate on rail simulation rather than all this crap they are pushing through Simulator Central. I have invested a lot of time and money on this sim now, as most of you have.I love the engineering and route planning side of it, not the "look at me I can drive a train" side of it. Rail Sim's sale website looks polished but as we know that can be deceiving. Rail Simming is not NASA sensitive so if they are developing it further, it would be helpful to tell their customers that they are devoted to developing the sim, it ain't CIA classified stuff. When they don't it gives the competition leverage in the market. But as sure as chips are chips, I am out of here if the lawnmower sim becomes available lol.

Goodnight all, ride the rails safe!

Except that N3V only sells those goofy sims; Farm Sim, Tractor Sim, Ship Simulator...all made by different companies (mostly Astragon).

Notice nobody's posted an actual screenshot to help the OP decide which sim he likes best. Well, here ya go:

These screenies were taken on the IOW's Island line, available as a separate add-on pack for TS13, but comes built-in in some editions. It comes with the 483's seen above, Hawthirn Leslie 0-4-0ST 'Invincible' and a little speeder thingy that be seen in the third shot.

They are just a distributor trying to make a few extra dollars from their website. What on earth does that have to do with Trainz. What a ridiculous argument.

It's kind of like saying Amazon should stick to books and abandon everything else they sell.

Two disagreements with Sniper297:

1. I prefer the Spline method trainz uses for route building, much easier and you can actually make a circle! I found nothing intuitive, and you can't exit without saving if you hate the straight section of slightly elevated track that took you 30 minutes to make. And coffee is disgusting.
2. Train Simulator 2013 trains do not start and stop like a sportscar, that's what Trainz trains do!

Hi All
Just a couple of notes. We are definitely continuing with development of Trainz, and have no plans to stop this any time soon!

However, right now, things are on hold due to the Christmas/New Year break. ;)

As to the other simulators in our store (Simulator Central), we are simply publishers/retailers for these, we are not the developers of them. Some may seem a little silly to some people, but there are those who enjoy them, same as railway simulators seem silly to a lot of other people (it should also be noted that the farm and ship simulators now have a fairly large community).

Regards

Trainz trains have unrealistic physics in DCC mode, Railworks trains have unrealistic physics no matter what mode you're in. In CAB mode Trainz physics are realistic.

RW can also make circular track, and it took me less than a week to figure out how to lay track.

http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?264124-Offset-tool-and-assorted-tracklaying-stuff

http://www.trainsim.com/vbts/showthread.php?264081-YO-EINSTEIN!-Slip-switch-angles

It uses the exact same spline mode that Trainz surveyor uses, only difference being it leaves the track alone instead of bending the connected sections all over the place requiring constant use of the straightening tool to fix what it bends behind you. And the switches don't look like crud.

Which Trainz stop and start like sports cars? I run long consists all the time, and I have seen many of the consists I am driving take almost 3/4 of a mile to stop. Don't know of any sports car that behaves that way unless you are going 300 mph. Sounds like you have Trainz and rw mixed up. Now I will admit that I only drive in Cab mode. DCC mode, to me is more aimed at a small child, because it takes almost no skill at all.

Whoa! Apply the brakes a little and some of you need not be so quick to bash me. I simply asked a question of fellow rail simmers of another product out there. There are 3 rail Sims worth talking about and I merely asked your opinions on the ts2013 being offered by rail sim.How that gives you reason to bitch slap me boggles the mind a little. Sim fans try out different products, no matter whether it's rail, flight, sim etc.

I was browsing tech and game review websites this morning and that was where the idea regarding Auran's further development was drawn from. That coupled with information given by other 3rd party creators on other forums.

@SD45, if the topic didn't interest you, or if it upset the cocoon you live in, then you could have passed it by and not made a comment. I am as entitled to ask a general question in here as much as the next man, I guess that's why they call it the general section!

Now back tot the question raised, has anyone tried it and what is your opinion of it?

I have played it, and I like it... The graphics are beautiful... The physics are a bit better than trainz... Its a bit harder to make a route in, and the figuring out how to get to your payware seems complicated at first untill you find it, then it makes sense lol.... But I like both Trainz and Train Sim 2013 and play both at least an hour a day! And at the end, it does not matter what these guys say, it matters whether or not you had fun! If you dont enjoy Train sim 2013, then its probably not for you, but if you like it and have fun, then why stop playing it?

So you think that having a loco pulling 5 cars , then adding 30 cars to the same loco, and it accelerates and brakes at the same rate in both setups, is realistic?

Well it would depend... Have you driven a real train?

No , but I have flown many real aircraft and have a pretty in depth understanding of physics, so I am not fooled by someone that is trying to push some joke like RW as representing true physics. That's like saying an aircraft with 10% fuel and no passengers is going to have the exact same takeoff distance and braking distance as a fully loaded aircraft with 100% fuel. Give me a break. I have also talked to 2 different engineers, one with diesel experience and one with both steam and diesel experience, and their PC sim of choice is Trainz. Ah, but what do they know.......
