And FWIW.

I think putting in the C&NWs' Michigamme Branch into this route is totally worth it, don't you agree?

Probably the reason why it isn't there today, is the river crossings!, about 7 in 7 miles!:p But, the landscape is stunning, infact a State Park today.:)

Copy and paste.

I'm using a 2x3 grid on the smaller trees just a little grass and a lighter paint color I think Herb7.. I lay down the big hemlocks copy and paste no grass darker paint, and then use the 2x3 gried spinng as I go to feather in the edges.

It's pretty quick, oh yea the 2x3 has one of my rocks in it. I put the pattern up a few pages back.

Then to finish it off.

I take my grass and cut it into and under the small cedars(back part), where it hits my field color hiding the seam. For a final blending between forest edge and field color, spinning herb7 maxed out small radius....because it matches my grass real good, and isn't offense to my field mix, which is a combo of about 7 blended colors.

You're done when It's EYE candy from the ground.

Just track & trees.

You need another feather plug the 2x3 with out the grass and rocks for hillsides and stream banks that are on a slope....so you don't end up with flying grass and rocks.

And WCL?

Sometimes you have to be careful for what you ask for. I hadn't worked on LS&I track for some time. So before I sent a consist up the hill, I replanted a quarter million speed trees up through the Dead River Basin. Got 55FPS on the 550TI. So there is now no way you can get up this part of the route without an Nvidia 550TI or better.

And because of you, I'm reworking the entire valley the way it should have been in the first place. I would suggest at minimum an Nvidia 560TI, though....mine will be here in a couple of hours. I'm sending my 3 day old 550TI back. Because still this route, Trainz, is only using 13% of my CPU's when running....so I need a faster graphics card to keeps them CPU's busy..

So now you know what I want for Christmas.

But's it's not like it doesn't have any benefits....

You can see forrestville road cutting though the timber on the right, east. A bridge with traffic crossing the lake, the lake the woods...and now all I need is some cabins with docks spotted around that thing to finsh her off. That and the area to front right. This is by far the most difficult part in this route on the ole graphics card....you can see for miles and I don't want to hem that all in with a tree line 20 ft off the tracks.

Here's another view looking due East.

Just up the hill from Forrestville Road....I purposely dropped that tree line for nothing but pure Michigan Eye Candy. It ain't done but you get the idea on the shot, and power it takes to render all that in 1080p.

And if I get up the hill and look back towards Marquette.

Setting the view out 5000 meters far as I can see any detail is about 9 boards in any direction. Like that Island top left in Lake Superior. But all details are lost at the 5000 meter mark. There's a lot mesh objects in view here, and I can spin them like they were in a blender. But a helicopter ride would be stupid, as I can see farther out then the game itself can......probably well beyond the draw range of the game but no details.

Well, if you really want to get it done fast.

wawasoo: Thanks for the explanation..I have been trying different methods..

I've found it to be the best way to plant. Miles, and miles, and miles, and miles, and miles, and miles and be consitent. But it took me a while.

Infact after I got it right....in my eye. I began re-doing old areas to give it all the same feel. And it's going rather quickly. The one thing my brother-in-law always told me when ever he looked at this route. More rocks. So by thowing a rock in that 2x3 I'm killing 2 birds with one rock.:hehe:

Back to Track Marks...

Even the Sneaky Clinchfield knows where to go with one command. Since he's cheating, taking the shortest route from Marquette. He's cut off at Pine Hill from the LS&I Main, making a run for the Euclid Yard in Ishpeming where he can pick up the C&NW's Michigamme Branch out to Duncan. Could have sent him on to Eagle Mill's over to Palmer, and tacken the C&NW Nation Mine Branch into Ishpeming, there he could have gone to Winthrop and picked up the C&NW Michigamme branch to Duncan....or Switched over to the Soo's 11th Subdivison, today's CN L'Anse, taking LS&I Vicking Junction North, back up to the C&NW Michigamme Branch.

This thing is too much fun...you can central dispatch ai trains just about anywhere to get from point a to b. Or have them running everywhere and not step on eachother.

Try this get 8 consists running.....

Dang you.....lol.....That sure does look like fun

And have them all blow through a quarter million speed trees a minute at 1080P. Nvidia 560TI is a big step up. With the Cpu's still running at 13% and 9.5 gigs of free Ram. Trainz is running about 2 Gigs and I've got about 10 windows open.

The Nestoria Interchange is in.

This is where the E&LS connects to the L'Anse Subdivision. I put in one Northbound Exchange track, and 2 Southbound tracks, in addition to a double track North & South Main.

Well they connect here and back in Champion on the Republic Branch...which ends of in of all places Repoublic, MI. Eventully ending up in Green Bay, WI to the south. on another DEM I can add to this.

Anyway in Nestoria, MI the E&LS Escanaba & Lake Superior RR has trackage rights up the L'Anse Subdivision to Baraga, MI...on this route. So any grain going up to that Pillsbury Plant comming from the Midwest is going to come in from E&LS. So Baraga, MI is as good place as any for that roving Pasty Plant.

They only farm I could identify on google up in this area was a christamas tree farm up in the Hills above Champion, MI....the growing season is too short.

Info to those interested in the E&LS.

Started work on the North Side of L'Anse Hill.

Down Town L'Anse.. The L'Anse Main is on top of the Photo, and the line going down to the Celotex Plat is front. I just need to replace those bridges with mine that have sound. PINA that I can't do that in Surveyer.

Worked on the main from Herman down to Nestoria.

Both sides of the main, a butt load of river & creek crossing...trees, grass rocks, rocks trees and grass.

And Steams and Rivers, and RIvers and Streams.....what a PITA.

Got a Soo moving thru...

The East Yard in Marquette, MI over to the West Yard in Marquette....It's a damm shame.....It's all high price homes(well I guess there ain't such a thing in America, humor me) and a Marina now. But this is a game and I can do what I want...so it's comming thru town.
